Farmer Wants a Wife is going through a major casting change ahead of season 4.
Fox announced on Wednesday, February 11, that season 4 will feature farmers Braden Pridemore, Brett Maverick and Sean Cavanaugh on their search for love as they court eight women each.
Viewers familiar with the format know that usually Farmer Wants a Wife has four leading men, which has shifted to seemingly allow for more focus on making successful onscreen connections.
Based on a British series of the same name, Farmer Wants a Wife premiered on The CW in 2008. It didn’t return for another season until Fox announced a reboot in 2023, with Allen Foster, Ryan Black, Hunter Grayson and Landon Heaton becoming the newest group of eligible single farmers.
Season 2 aired in 2024 with Brandon Rogers, Mitchell Kolinsky, Nathan Smothers and Ty Ferrell looking for love, while season 3 introduced Us to John Sansone, Jay Woods, Matt Warren and Colton Hendricks as they searched for The One.
Jennifer Nettles hosted the first two seasons before Kimberly Paisley-Williams was brought in for season 3. While most couples broke up in the months after filming the show, some lasted longer.
“I enjoyed being myself in this show, which was a new experience for me with my first unscripted series,” Williams-Paisley told People in January 2025 about the hosting opportunity. “Because I’m a city girl who embraced the country life when I married my husband twenty-one years ago, I related to the allure of a farmer for these ladies. I really appreciate how dedicated this show and its producers are in helping these hopeful farmers and women find love.”
The reality dating series has become an international success that Fox has reported has resulted in 250 marriages and more than 500 children.
According to a press release, season 4 farmer Pridemore is “a fifth-generation farmer who co-owns and lives on his family’s 3,000-acre operation.” He is “looking for a woman who is kind, fun, faith-minded, and ready to build a life — and a family — on the farm his grandfather built.”
Maverick, meanwhile, is a former bull rider who “eventually traded broken bones for business suits, building a successful protein bar company as well as a tequila brand.” Now, he’s “back home on his family’s 1,000-acre farm, starting his own horse and cattle ranch while searching for a partner to build a legacy rooted in love, loyalty, and land.”
Cavanaugh is the final farmer featured in season 4.
“Sean is a California native with strong roots in both agriculture and hospitality,” read his show bio. “He works on his family’s 22-acre produce farm, growing everything from tomatoes and peaches to figs, kiwis, and avocados — all of which supply their beloved farm-to-table restaurant, The Gathering Table, and other eateries across California. Focused, driven, and ready for something real, Sean knows exactly what he’s looking for in love and life.”
Farmer Wants a Wife returns April 21 on Fox.
