Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic wasn’t happy that a camera person got too close during his third-round clash with 19-year-old João Fonseca on Friday at the 2026 French Open.
“Can you come more in my face? For God’s sake make some space,” Djokovic, 39, said while near his bench after going up two sets at Court Philippe-Chatrier.
As the camera moved away from him, a ball boy handed Djokovic two ice packs to cool down amid a heat wave in Paris — where temps at the tournament are reaching low-to-mid 90s.
The 24-time major champion Djokovic lost to Fonseca, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5, in a five-set thriller that spanned nearly five hours.
The Brazilian served three consecutive aces to close it out.
Djokovic also threw up on the clay court at the start of the fifth set.
The pair hugged over the net and Djokovic received a standing ovation as he left the court.
The No. 28 Fonseca thanked Djokovic and called him an idol after the victory.
The Brazilian became only the second man to beat Djokovic from two sets down.
Jurgen Melzer was the first, having defeated Djokovic at Roland Garros in 2010.
Fonseca will face either Casper Ruud or Tommy Paul in the fourth round.
