ESPN softball broadcast hit by unfortunate NSFW moment

News RoomBy News RoomMay 25, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Where ESPN is putting its microphones is a complete mystery.

While broadcasting a softball game between Arizona State and Texas on Sunday, someone whispered obscene comments into a hot mic during a 0-1 pitch from Teagan Kavan.

“Lick my ballsack,” a male voice said during the seventh inning, with the Longhorns leading, and eventually winning 5-0 at home in Austin.

Play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown continued his commentary, ignoring the vulgar statement — pretending no one listening to what the nationally televised audience couldn’t unhear.

“You’re going to compete for national championships as an assistant, and then they’re going to send you off,” Brown said without skipping a beat while talking about Megan Bartlett, Arizona State’s manager, and her success with assistants.

Whether the fan found an on-field microphone or stormed the broadcast booth is unknown.

Not that it mattered to those on the field.

The Longhorns’ 2-1 series win over the Sun Devils meant a Women’s College World Series berth, and a matchup with Tennessee on Thursday afternoon.

The lead up to the tournament has featured plenty of bad behavior, in addition to Sunday’s potty-mouthed scene.

Former NBA star Jason Williams was ejected from a Texas Tech-Florida game over the weekend after leading a celebration for his daughter, Mia, who played against her former Gators team.

Mia was hit by five pitches in a five-game series. She wound up hitting two home runs, and fans were at each other’s throats throughout the weekend.
