What the heck was that, WWE?
If you were looking for actual wrestling on Night 1 of WrestleMania 42, you didn’t get it as the seven matches totaled approximately an hour and a half of in-ring action. The main event was around 30 minutes and the next longest match was 15 minutes between Seth Rollins and Gunther. So that’s about 45 minutes total for the other five matches (24 overall for the women) on the commercial-flooded show with long entrances.
The card was filled with weird twists, outside interference, wasting John Cena as a host and an ending that was underwhelming, surprising and almost nonsensical in front of an announced crowd of 50,816 at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday night. At least fans got the return of Paige after eight years and Bianca Belair’s baby announcement. Even the entrances, outside Rhodes, A.J. Lee and Seth Rollins did feel big enough for WrestleMania. WWE has a lot of ground to make up on Sunday.
