I’m in my late 30s and haven’t yet attempted injectables, so I’m just starting to realize that fine lines and signs of aging feel a lot more noticeable. I’m willing to try just about anything to reverse this (or at least make it better), so when I finally got my hands on a red light therapy mask from Nanoleaf, I was more than excited to try it out. After a few weeks of regular use, I’ve concluded that the hype is very well-deserved.
With their glowing LED lights and robot-like appearance, light therapy face masks definitely make an impression, in more ways than one. The tiny but mighty lights are meant to help energize skin cells, treat wrinkles, scars, acne and more, making skin glowy and rejuvenated. I got the Nanoleaf Light Therapy Face Mask, an FDA-cleared LED therapy mask (that is currently 40% off for Amazon Prime Day), and after just a few weeks of use, I’ve already noticed a difference in how my skin looks and feels.

This mask offers seven targeted treatment options: red light for wrinkles, yellow for inflammation, green for dark spots, cyan for irritation, blue for acne, purple for uneven texture and white for a deep repair. Since signs of aging are my biggest issue at the moment, I spent the last few weeks trying out the red light treatment (but I’m eager to test white and yellow as well).
Using the mask is simple: after giving it a full charge, you simply connect the cords, select the mode you want, set the timer, put it on and lay back while it works its magic. The Nanoleaf mask combines each light mode with Near Infrared Light (NIR), which is a type of light that is able to penetrate deeper into the skin and isn’t something you’ll find in every light therapy mask. NIR boosts the effects of light therapy and can help to stimulate cellular energy production and enhance blood circulation.
How I Tested It
I started by using my light therapy mask for 10 minutes three times a week on clean skin, then eventually moved to five times a week. The mask feels just a tiny bit warm against the skin (in a nice way) and constantly makes me feel like I’m sitting in a fancy spa. While there are guards to protect your eyes, my eyes are very sensitive, so I always close mine during use. This really makes me feel like I’m getting an expensive facial, and it offers 10 minutes of much-needed relaxation while it refreshes my skin.
One of the first things I noticed about my mask is how comfortable it is. It’s made of a flexible silicone that is soft against skin, with a wide strap that loops shut in the back for an adjustable fit. My face is on the smaller side, but I didn’t find this to have an awkward fit.
After three weeks of regular use, I could swear I was noticing a difference in how the fine lines in my forehead looked. My skin feels smoother and even a little more radiant. I also felt like it helped with breakouts, even though I was using red light. During the time of the month when I would typically get one or two pimples, I didn’t get any. I also noticed that a recent acne scar I had on my forehead healed up faster than usual.
Other perks about this Nanoleaf mask? The remote control that comes with it is super intuitive — you can skip through the different modes and adjust the intensity to your liking. It’s also easy to set a timer of your choice. Plus, the battery is great. I gave mine a full charge the first time I used it four weeks ago, and even though I’ve been using it regularly, it still hasn’t needed another charge.
Final Verdict
As a beauty writer who is constantly testing and trying out new products, it takes a lot to impress me, but this Nanoleaf face mask has quickly become one of my favorite skincare items. It makes me feel like I’m getting a pricey facial, it’s comfortable to wear, and, most importantly, the results are real.
If you want to try it out, add it to your cart now – it’s currently on sale for 40% off for Amazon Prime Day. Don’t wait too long to snag one, because at this price, it’s truly a steal.
