Sandra Bullock offered a rare look at her two children while celebrating Mother’s Day.
“To all the mamas, No matter how you came to be, Happy Mother’s Day,” Bullock, 61, captioned an Instagram post on Sunday, May 10. “We are all bound by this honor of a lifetime.”
The actress shared a throwback photo with kids Louis, now 16, and Laila, now 11, whom she adopted when they were babies.
“Mom and Omi, thank you for teaching me. We miss you,” Bullock concluded her caption, shouting out her own family. “Sorry I was such a brat.”
Sunday’s tribute honoring her children and other family members was the actress’ fifth Instagram post since she joined the social media platform last month.
Bullock often keeps her personal life out of the public eye, most recently detailing her journey to motherhood during an episode of “Red Table Talk” in 2022.
“I don’t know why that was the only route, but I’m so glad the universe had me wait,” she said of adopting her two kids. “Had me wait even though I was anxious and I was eager — and it went, ‘Nope, you’re not going to do it the way you think you’re going to do it.’”
During the same interview, Bullock shared the biggest worry she has when it comes to raising Louis.
“With Lou being a young Black man, at one point, sweet, funny Lou is gonna be a young man,” Bullock explained. “And the minute he leaves my home, I can’t follow him everywhere, though I will try … I pray and pray and pray that I have done a good enough job.”
Bullock adopted son Louis in 2010, adding Laila into the family in 2015.
“[Hurricane] Katrina happened in New Orleans, and I knew — just something told me that my child was there. It was weird,” Bullock said on Today in 2018, discussing her decision to adopt Louis. “He’s just perfect, I can’t even describe him any other way. It’s like he’s always been a part of our lives.”
Bullock felt similarly about deciding to adopt her daughter.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” Bullock told People in 2015.
The actress further discussed her daughter’s drive during an interview with InStyle years later.
“Oh my God, what she is going to accomplish,” Bullock said in 2018. “She’s going to bring some real change.”
