Rams’ Day 3 NFL draft sleepers include cornerback, tackle, receiver

News RoomBy News RoomApril 19, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

The Rams have seven picks in this week’s NFL draft, including the 13th overall thanks to the shrewd trade they pulled off during last year’s draft with the Falcons.

However, they do not have any picks in the fourth or fifth round. In fact, after making their third-round selection at No. 93, they won’t pick again until the sixth round at No. 207.

Don’t be surprised if they use one or two of their three seventh-round picks to move up on Day 3, though, to secure someone they feel is too compelling to risk losing by waiting.

Regardless, general manager Les Snead and his staff typically do a solid job identifying overlooked talent on Day 3, so expect them to put their four picks on Saturday to good use.

Here are some Day 3 sleepers to keep an eye on for the Rams:

Jadon Canady, Cornerback, Oregon

The Rams hit the reset button at cornerback in a major way this offseason, adding Chiefs star Trent McDuffie in a trade and his teammate, Jaylen Watson, in free agency. In the blink of an eye, a weakness became a strength.

But they aren’t done in that room, specifically at slot cornerback, where safety Quentin Lake often lines up. Canady projects as a slot corner in the NFL after productive seasons at Tulane, Ole Miss and Oregon, possessing solid coverage skills, toughness and a nose for the ball.

In due time, he could eventually take over the starting position.

Drew Shelton, Tackle, Penn State

Tackle is a sneaky big need for the Rams. Alaric Jackson and Warren McClendon Jr. are the 2026 starters, but only Jackson is under contract beyond 2026. Ahead of the draft, David Quessenberry and AJ Arcuri are the depth pieces.

Whether it’s beefing up the reserve group or pointing toward the future, they could use Day 3 to add to their tackle room.

Shelton started 34 games at Penn State and is a long-armed, 6-foot-5, 314-pound prospect with upside. He needs some refinement, but the Rams have plenty of time to pour into him during his rookie season.

Kaden Wetjen, Wide receiver, Iowa

Special teams cost the Rams big-time last season. The breakdowns were at every level, including a muffed punt that essentially cost them the NFC Championship game.

As complete as the Rams are from a roster standpoint, they could afford to devote a Day 3 draft pick to a prospect whose primary role will be on special teams.

Wetjen, who averaged 26.8 yards per punt return last year, has special traits as a return man and is a threat to break off a long return every time he touches the ball. His ability to make game-altering plays as a returner overrides how limited he might be as a receiver, where he had 20 catches for 151 yards last year.

If you’re looking for an impact player at the back end of the draft, he is worth a look.

Mason Reiger, Edge, Wisconsin

The Rams always have their eye on pass rushers, and Reiger is as intriguing as it gets for a player who has a knack for creating havoc off the edge.

At 6-5, 248 pounds, Reiger graded out at 82.4 (out of 100) last season, according to Pro Football Focus, with an 83.0 grade as a pass rusher after registering 45 total pressures, six sacks and 32 hurries.

But he also has some upside in run defense, so he could eventually develop into a three-down defensive end. Reiger needs to add some weight, but he represents great value as a Day 3 pick with tremendous upside.

Bishop Fitzgerald, Safety, USC

The Rams line up significantly in three-safety looks, so there is always a need for more able players for the immediate and long-range future.

Fitzgerald totaled 51 tackles, including 2.5 behind the line of scrimmage, one sack, eight pass breakups and five interceptions last year at USC. Before arriving in Los Angeles, he spent two seasons at North Carolina State, where he recorded five interceptions, 97 tackles and 16 pass breakups.

Fitzgerald has positional flexibility, so he’d fit right in with the Rams as a piece they can line up everywhere from the line of scrimmage to free safety.
