Beloved KTLA weathercaster breaks silence on shocking firing, shares when she will be back on air

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 5, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

A beloved KTLA weather anchor, who was abruptly fired in a shocking move by the station, spoke out for the first time since she and several coworkers were let go.

Kacey Montoya said she was “overwhelmed” by the support she received from her fans in a video shared to Instagram. The award-winning reporter has nearly 700,000 followers on the platform.

“I had no idea that I had made such an impact on so many of your lives,” she said. “So honestly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for that.”

Montoya was one of five reporters who were fired without warning last month, leaving the station’s loyal viewers furious.

“My time at KTLA is coming to an end after 13 years, but I truly love this job and love being able to come into your home and bring you the forecast and my animal welfare stories,” she said.

The good news for Montoya’s fans? She shared she will be returning to the weekend show for the month of March until early April, telling fans she hopes “you’ll join me.”

“I want to thank everyone for your love and support that you’ve shown me over the past week,” she added.

When the fired staffers were told by station executives that they no longer had a job with KTLA, they were presented with an option, a source said.

The employees could either continue to work for the next 60 days and get paid, or they could collect what equated to 60 days of severance, the source added. Montoya chose to stay on air for the remainder of her time.

While she still has her job until her last day, she is turning her focus to her nonprofit, FixnFidos, full-time while “exploring some other opportunities.”

The nonprofit supports pet families by providing spay/neuter services for low-income families and assisting with vet bills for general veterinary care.
