Kohl’s gave shoppers double the trouble.
Shoppers are accusing the Wisconsin-based retailer of double dipping after customers have spotted duplicate charges on recent purchases. Some bargain hunters have also reported seeing unrequested returns on specific orders.
A trove of angry customers — who purchased items online between July 24 and August 19 — all reported seeing the multiple charges or extra return transactions on their bank accounts in recent days.
And Kohl’s is not denying the rumors. Reps told The Post the issue stems from an internal “processing error” and it is actively working to reverse all charges.
“We’re aware that some customers may be seeing an unexpected duplicate charge or return related to online transactions made between July 24 and August 5,” the company said in an email to The Post.
The discount retail giant said reversals are underway and all affected shoppers will see funds returned in one to three days, depending on the financial institution.
According to the spokesperson, customers do not need to take any additional action for these charges to be reversed. Those with questions can contact Kohl’s Customer Service.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” Kohl’s said.
Consumers are in some deep drama with their banks as the extra charges have caused headaches — and account negatives.
“Hey Kohl’s, you charged me AGAIN for an old order that was already paid off. Now my bank account is in the negative and I can’t even use my card for the next few days. Please fix this and process a refund/compensation ASAP,” one user wrote on X.
Another shopper improperly charged told the 64-year-old retailer the added payments have caused issues with her childcare — racking up late fees.
“I was not able to pay my childcare today so I will have extra fees when I am able to pay it all because Kohl’s thought it was a good idea to charge me twice. This is not OK. You cannot just take my money and tell me to wait until you figure it out,” the customer said on X.
A third called out the store after the shopper claimed no one from the company reached out to alert its customers.
“The fact that a multi-BILLION dollar corporation can’t simply send out an email and let their customers know there is an issue is insane. @Kohls is only “making statements” in social media replies. Why [is it that] I had to find out from Reddit that there is an issue?” The shopper said.
Customers have asked the brand if it will be giving any store credit or compensation, but The Post could not confirm.
