WASHINGTON — Conservative netizens pilloried former Vice President Kamala Harris‘ attempt to rizz it up with America’s youths by deploying Gen. Alpha lingo on her rebranded campaign account.
Harris dusted off her “KamalaHQ” account on X and rebranded it as “headquarters_67” in using the Gen. Alpha brainrot slang “67” that kids sometimes facetiously used when asked a question they’re too lazy to answer properly.
But the nonsensical lingo may have already run out of style, right-leaning millennial netizens told Harris, citing their Gen. Alpha children.
“My children have informed me that ’67’ is already old, tired, and cringe, so once again, Kamala is coming up short,” the Manhattan Institute’s Chris Rufo chided in response to Harris’ rebrand.
Her team explained that X boss Elon Musk didn’t let them have the username “headquarters,” which is why the “67” got added in. There doesn’t appear to be an X account with the handle “headquarters.”
Harris had touted her retooled “headquarters_67” account as the “new Gen-Z led progressive content hub” aimed at boosting Democrats during the 2026 midterm elections.
“It’s where you can go online to get the latest, basically the latest of what’s going on, and also to revisit with some of our great, courageous leaders,” she said in a video message. “I’m really excited about this.”
Democrats have been scrambling to overhaul their messaging strategy in the wake of President Trump’s victory in the 2024 elections.
Potential 2028 presidential foe, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), for example, has begun attempting to emulate Trump’s wild, caps-heavy social media persona. Both Newsom and Harris regularly poll as the top 2028 presidential Democrats at the moment.
The slang term “67” originates from a rap song by Skrilla’s “Doot Doot (6 7).” Eventually, snippets of that song mixed with basketball videos on TikTok helped it morph into the phrase made so popular by elementary kids that was Dictionary.com’s word of the year in 2025.
“Haven’t been this disappointed since Beyonce didn’t perform,” Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr chided on X.
“How can a Gen-Z led operation be led by a Baby Boomer? Bad Boy Doug is more in touch w the youth IMO,” Heritage Foundation visiting fellow Mike Howell jabbed.
“CNN called Kamala’s new handle for her headquarters account was ‘cringe,” user Sara Rose mused.
“The look you get when your ready to get out there and waste another Billion,” user Sack Head Shaun snipped.
“Millennial vibes from this, i fear,” reporter Robert Schmad swiped.
Harris had teased Thursday’s revival of her old campaign social media account, in a video of her team entering different incorrect passwords for “KamalaHQ,” including “waytooonline,” “thebabysitterisweird,” and “project2025wasreal,” before logging in with “headquarters.”
The former vice president has largely laid low since her departure from the White House last year.
Just before Trump took office, Harris vowed not to “go quietly into the night.” Last year, she released her book, “107 Days,” chronicling her short stint as the Democrats’ 2024 presidential standard-bearer.
She also passed on a run for governor of California and has been tight-lipped about her plans for 2028.
