Katy Perry has sparked fireworks with Justin Trudeau.
The “Roar” singer and the former Canadian prime minister were first spotted out to dinner together in Montreal, Canada, in July 2025, just days before Trudeau attended Perry’s Lifetimes Tour stop in the city. A source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time that their outing was “definitely” a date, but it was “casual.”
The couple made their first major public appearance on October 25, 2025, with a date at Crazy Horse Paris for Perry’s 41st birthday. She and Trudeau all but confirmed their relationship by holding hands while walking out of the club.
Perry’s romance with Trudeau comes after her broken engagement to Orlando Bloom in June 2025. The exes share daughter Daisy and had been together since 2016. Meanwhile, Trudeau split from ex-wife Sophie Trudeau in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The two share kids Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien.

July 2025
Perry and Justin were first spotted on a walk in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park with her dog on July 28, 2025. That night, the pair went to dinner at the restaurant Le Violon.
Two days later, Justin was seen attending Perry’s sold-out concert at Belle Centre in Montreal.
A source exclusively confirmed to Us that the pair’s dinner was “definitely a date” but “casual.”
“They had been in touch for the last month and have a few mutuals in the music industry,” the insider added.
September 2025
An insider exclusively shared an update on the couple on September 15, 2025, telling Us, “They’ve decided to be much more private about it. They are still speaking and are very interested in each other.”
A second insider said the relationship “isn’t serious” because of Perry’s busy tour schedule.
“Katy is taking it day by day but is very open to dating,” the source added.
October 2025
Perry and Justin packed on the PDA with kisses and cuddles while enjoying a yacht trip off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, on October 11, 2025.
Two days later, Perry seemingly joked about the end of her relationship with Bloom and moving on with Trudeau during her Lifetimes Tour stop in London.
“London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?” she said. “No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time … but not anymore.”
Elsewhere at the concert, she hinted that she was in a new relationship when a fan proposed to her.
“You heard I’m single? That’s interesting,” she told the fan. After he got down on one knee and proposed to Perry with a large sign, she responded, “Are you kidding me? Not today! You know, you really should have asked me about 48 hours ago.”
An insider exclusively told Us on October 24, 2025, that Perry is “really into” her romance with Justin.
“She’s very happy,” the source said. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.”
The insider added, “Their friends think they are a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
Perry and Justin were filmed holding hands the following night while exiting a cabaret club in Paris. The date night came in celebration of the singer’s 41st birthday.
Justin also seemingly paid tribute to Perry with his Halloween costume: an inflatable shark. While Justin’s son dressed as a surfer with a bloody head for the holiday, the costume appeared to double as an homage to Perry’s Super Bowl 49 performance, which featured two dancers dressed as sharks.
Justin further hinted at the tribute in the caption of his Instagram post, writing, “Ready for Halloween with Hadrien: he’s the surfer, I’m the shark (to his left). We built the costume together — a little father-son Halloween teamwork. 🎃🦈🏄♂️.” (The “Left Shark” in Perry’s performance went viral for going rogue with their dance moves and stealing the show.)

Perry and Trudeau met with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during a getaway in the country.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner, Katy Perry, and had lunch with us,” Kishida wrote via Instagram on December 4. “During my time as Prime Minister, I met Prime Ministers many times, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the Nikka Action Plan. I am glad that we are continuing this friendship.”
January 2026
While sharing a recap of her holiday season, Perry uploaded a photo of herself leaning to kiss Trudeau beside a body of water. Trudeau rocked a pair of dark sunglasses and a white T-shirt as he gave a smile for the camera. ““Holidaze ♥️,” Perry captioned the Instagram post.
April 2026
Perry shared a sweet photo of her and Trudeau posing together via Instagram. She placed one hand on his chest while looking up and smiling at the former prime minister of Canada.
“Never knew karma could be so rewarding,” she captioned the post.
Trudeau’s son Xavier praised Perry for helping with his music career during an episode of the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast. “When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her],” he said. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
He added, “She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy, so that’s important.”
June 2026
A source exclusively told Us in June 2026 that “things between Katy and Justin are very serious.”
“After her split from Orlando, Katy really wasn’t expecting to jump into another relationship anytime soon, but Justin completely caught her by surprise. He came into her life at the right time, and they have developed a really strong connection,” the insider said, sharing that they have been “integrating their lives more and more.”
“Their relationship has deepened over the past several months, and they are about to celebrate their one-year anniversary,” the source said. “They both feel it’s important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace.”
Later that month, Perry and Trudeau made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City for the premiere of her new concert movie, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.
