Emilie Kiser opened up about her state of mind while nearing the one-year anniversary of her son Trigg’s death.
Kiser, 27, took to TikTok on Saturday, May 10, to share that she’ll be taking a mental health break from social media. “This is the month we lost [Trigg] from a preventable drowning accident,” she said of her son, who died at age 3 on May 18, 2025. “This month has snuck up on us in a way we could have never anticipated.”
“It’s just incredibly hard to process that it’s been almost a year,” Kiser said while tearing up. “I’m really struggling. I’m trying to show up still for my family, for my son, [but] I just want to be in bed all day.”
Emilie, who also shares son Theodore “Teddy” with husband Brady Kiser, added that she has family members coming to stay with her through the difficult month and plans to do things that remind them of Trigg.
“Hopefully visiting his favorite places, we love reading to him, but going into this month, I don’t think I fully anticipated how my body would feel,” she continued, noting that she’s “exhausted and drained.”
“I just miss him so much,” she said while wiping a tear from her face. “I am just really struggling.”
Emilie added that her health is “the first thing that goes out the window” when she’s “emotionally struggling.”
“Every day sucks. Continuing on without the person who is and was your entire world is so hard,” Emilie explained. “Life just sucks.”
@emiliekiser As always, I am so grateful for all of your support. Right now, I’m going to be taking a much needed break and focus on my little family and honoring Trigg. I will see you guys in a couple weeks & hope you have a safe and peaceful Mother’s Day💛

Her followers were quick to support her in the comments section.
“We’re here for you mama ❤️🩹 love your vulnerability. It’s not easy,” wrote Taylor Frankie Paul. Miranda McWhorter added, “You are so strong em 🥺🤍,” while Jaclyn Hill commented, “You’re so brave for talking about this on the internet Emily! Thinking of you this month❤️🩹.”
In May 2025, news broke that Trigg died after being found unconscious in the family’s pool. Authorities recommended pressing criminal charges against Brady, 29, because he was the only adult home at the time of the accident, but the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said there would be no charges because there was “no likelihood of conviction.”
Emilie broke her silence on Trigg’s death in August 2025, writing via Instagram, “I take full accountability as Trigg’s mother, and I know I should have done more to protect him.” She added, “One of the hardest lessons I carry is that a permanent pool fence could have saved his life, and it’s something I will never overlook again.”
