Let’s get this out of the way from the start: The Giants are not picking up their entire football operation and moving it from East Rutherford, N.J., to White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., because new head coach John Harbaugh’s vision for training camp is to take his guys far from home for the purpose of hunkering down and getting after it this summer.
Nope. That is not it at all.
Ongoing renovations and upgrades to the team facility made it imperative that Giants get away from their building for the start of camp. Plus, the massive World Cup infrastructure erected outside MetLife Stadium included areas around the Giants’ complex, making it impossible, logistically, to hold camp there.
So the Giants will hit the road for their first off-site training camp since 2012, when they finished up their nearly two-decade monthly habitation at the University at Albany.
