Exclusive | WWE star Charlotte Flair opens up about tragic death of her 8-year-old superfan

News RoomBy News RoomJuly 25, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

WWE star Charlotte Flair is mourning the death of a heroic young superfan — whose brave battle with a rare cancer rewrote her outlook on life, she told The Post.

Eight-year-old Scarlett Guillen was given only six months to live, but defied the odds for nearly three years. Now she’s making an impact on her heroine from above.

“What I learned from her, even at 8 years old, was she woke up every day with a smile on her face. She went to school even after her diagnosis . . . Maybe she didn’t comprehend it, but I think deep down she did,” Flair said.

“What I took away from the experience is we really do have to wake up every day going, ‘Today is not guaranteed and some of us don’t have tomorrow.’ She was 8 years old. I’m 40 . . . she doesn’t get to see how good life can be.”

Guillen, who was lovingly referred to as Scarlett Strong, was diagnosed in 2024 with Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG), characterized by tumors that grow on the brain and spinal cord.

Flair first connected with Guillen, who was from Orange County, Calif., through WWE’s partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation while Flair was recovering from a torn ACL.

“One of our social media guys called me and was like, ‘Hey, there’s a Make-a-Wish little girl here and all she’s talking about is, ‘Where’s Charlotte Flair?’ Do you mind if I FaceTime you?’” recalled Flair, who spoke to The Post from the ESPYs red carpet at the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center last week.

From that moment on, Flair kept in touch with Guillen, her parents, Kim and Isaiah, and her older sister, Ellena — and even attended Scarlett’s First Communion in May.

“She’s like family to us now. She comes over. My whole family knows her now,” Kim said in a video WWE posted on TikTok in May.

“She’s told me plenty of times, ‘You’re stuck forever with me.’ To hear that coming from her, it means the world to us.”

Flair — the daughter of legendary wrestler Ric Flair — even invited Guillen and her family to WrestleMania in April. She sported butterfly wing gear just for Scarlett.

“When I really got close to them after WrestleMania . . . watching her parents continue to say, ‘Be happy now, we can cry later,’ and how much life they did give her and give her things to live for, it was such a learning experience,” she said.

After Scarlett died on July 4, Flair wrote, “Oh how much you will be missed, you are one of the greatest gifts of our lives,” in an Instagram post, where she also shared a link to the GoFundMe created in Guillen’s honor.

Flair recently expressed her thanks to Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton for donating $10,000 to the GoFundMe.

“It really helped cover her funeral costs,” Flair told Fox News at the Sports Illustrated Beyond the Pitch event last weekend.

“I saw him tonight at the show and I was like, hey, thank you. You have no idea how much that meant to me, to the family. Just, what a great guy.”

Scarlett’s untimely death has left Flair realizing that Scarlett came into her life for a reason, one she may not fully realize yet:

“She’s such a special kid and what this has meant in her passing away I think is larger than I will know maybe 10 years from now.”
