4 Top New Movies and Shows to Watch This Week (August 10–14): ‘Reacher’ Season 4 and More

News RoomBy News RoomAugust 10, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

This week is packed with high-quality new TV shows and movies to watch on streamers like Netflix, Prime Video and Hulu.

There’s so much new content to consume that Watch With Us has curated a list of only the best to watch throughout the week.

Prime Video’s hit original series Reacher is back for season 4, and Alan Ritchson’s bulked-up hero is kicking even more butt this time around.

Netflix offers two wildly different shows: a light-hearted and excellent costume drama, My Brilliant Career, and Shane Gillis’ crude comedy, Tires, which returns for season 3.

Once you finish those shows, finish the week off with the underrated political drama, The Wizard of the Kremlin, on Hulu.

‘Reacher’ Season 4 (Prime Video) — August 12

One of Prime Video’s most successful is back this week – and the stakes have never been higher. After spending most of his time in Maine last season, Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) is back in an urban city this season – Philadelphia, to be exact. And things appear to be relatively calm in his life until he witnesses a woman killing herself on a subway train late one night. What caused her to end her life? Reacher thinks the answer will be simple, but he discovers an unsettling conspiracy that could put him six feet under.

Based on the 13th book in Lee Child‘s best-selling series, Gone Tomorrow, Reacher season 4 promises everything fans love in the previous three seasons: brutal, hand-to-hand fights; an intriguing story with plenty of twists and turns; and a buff Ritchson, who continues to look and act like a real-life superhero. Reacher season 4’s first three episodes drop on August 12, with weekly episodes every Wednesday.

‘My Brilliant Career’ Season 1 (Netflix) — August 13

All Sybylla Melvyn (Phillipa Northeast) wants to do is be a writer instead of someone’s wife. That’s not so radical in 2026, but in turn-of-the-century Australia, it was positively revolutionary. Sybylla is so intent on becoming an author that her very traditional family sends her to live with her grandmother, Mrs. Bossier (Anna Chancellor), at her lavish countryside estate. Sybylla’s dreams clash with a harsh reality – she’s slowly falling in love with two men she meets there: the wealthy Harry Beecham (Christopher Chung) and the exiled Englishman Frank Hawden (Jake Dunn). Will Sybylla have to choose between love and a career? Or can she become a true pioneer of women’s liberation and have it all?

Based on a classic 1901 novel by Miles Franklin, My Brilliant Career is anything but a stuffy costume drama. Expect to hear The Divinyls and Rod Stewart needle drops in the first episode, and a generous showcase of sexuality that’s not present in the source material. This Netflix series is a loose adaptation in every sense of the word, and it’s a fun romp through history that’s been altered a bit to suit the story’s needs – and the heroine’s eventual empowerment. The six-episode show is funny, dramatic and romantic; in other words, it’s the complete package, and one of Netflix’s best series of the year.

‘Tires’ Season 3 (Netflix) — August 13

At the end of Tires season 2, Shane (Shane Gillis) and Will (Steve Gerben) had finally taken ownership of Valley Forge, their family’s auto repair shop in Pennsylvania. Season 3 documents the downside of having your dreams come true when they have to save it from financial ruin. Will doesn’t think Shane is focused enough on work, and he’s right; his cousin is too busy going on dates and getting caught by the police. Will Shane grow up enough to save the store he now owns?

Premiering in 2024, Tires was a big comedy hit for Netflix. It’s easy to see why – the show blends the everyman comedy of classic sitcoms like Home Improvement and The Office with the blue language and sex jokes of an HBO show. It’s not for everyone, but if you enjoy workplace comedies with just a touch of the absurd, rev up your engine and park your keister in front of the TV to watch season 3 of Tires.

‘The Wizard of the Kremlin’ (2025) — Hulu

How did Vladimir Putin become one of Russia’s most powerful leaders? The Wizard of the Kremlin provides some clues to his rise – and suggests a fall is not happening anytime soon. Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano) is a television producer who is recruited to help launch his biggest project yet: Russia’s next political leader. Career KGB agent Vladimir Putin (Jude Law) is selected as Boris Yeltsin’s successor, but as Baranov quickly finds out, Putin has no interest in following any script he or anyone else gives him. He’s his own man, and he’ll rule Russia the way he wants to.

In just 130 minutes, director Olivier Assayas provides a crash course in modern Russian history and draws not-so-subtle parallels between Putin’s rise to power and Donald Trump’s being elected president in 2016. Dano is terrific as a proud Russian who becomes disillusioned by his country’s political process, while Law is unrecognizable as a Putin who knows how to work a rigged system to get what he wants – unlimited and unquestioned power.
