There has been plenty of talk in WWE about pushing its young talent, and the company feels like its words are finally turning into action — with two curious exceptions.
The old guard remains on top of the card and still has a few years left to put the finishing touches on establishing the next crew. The now-retired Brock Lesnar did his job by putting over Oba Femi, 28, in their trilogy. Femi feels destined to be a WrestleMania main eventer as early as next year.
The person who was supposed to be on that track was Bron Breakker, 28, before an injury to him and Seth Rollins short-circuited a potential World Heavyweight championship feud and cooled his ascent. But a funny thing happened on “Monday Night Raw” last week.
Breakker seemed to become obsessed with Femi after The Ruler declared himself the leader of the next generation. After not being able to take his eyes off Femi, a more vicious, focused side of Breakker emerged as he beat Joe Hendry in 1:39. Breakker vs. Femi could be a feud that lasts decades in WWE.
