Will Levis believes he can still be starter as Titans career stalls: ‘Know that for sure’

News RoomBy News RoomAugust 2, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Will Levis doesn’t lack confidence — just perspective.

Even as Levis enters his fourth NFL season with an inside track towards becoming the third-string quarterback for one of the worst teams in the league, the former Kentucky star — and one-time No. 1 overall pick candidate — expects another shot at being QB1 one day.

“There are not 32 quarterbacks in this league better than me. I know that for sure,” the Titans quarterback told reporters on Saturday. “I know I’ve put the tape out there already that I’m a dang good quarterback in this league.”

It has been nearly two years since Levis has put anything on tape, having missed all of last season after undergoing surgery on his throwing arm.

Levis, 27, spent parts of two seasons as Tennessee’s starter after sliding to the second round in the 2023 NFL Draft.

In 2024, the Titans went 2-10 with Levis under center, putting Tennessee in position to earn the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and select franchise quarterback Cam Ward.

Now, Levis is competing with veteran Mitchell Trubisky for the backup job, in addition to 2023 third-round pick Hendon Hooker. Trubisky, who signed a two-year, $10.5 million deal before the season, previously worked with new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll in Buffalo and has taken the majority of snaps behind Ward in training camp.

“I’m just trying to make the most of every opportunity that I get,” Levis said. “I can’t control the reps that I get, and I’m trying to take this time to obviously work on myself but [also] bring along others with me. The reps I’ve taken before [were] with mainly the ones and twos, and I have the opportunity to work with guys that are really fighting for a roster position now and trying to bring them along and make as many opportunities for them as much as I’m making opportunities for me.

“So I’m not worried about the competition per se or the amount of opportunities that they’re going to give me. I just got to make sure that I’m ready for when they are given to me and just preparing to be the best at that as possible.”
