Warning issued over high-end diapers following complaints of severe rashes, burn-like injuries

News RoomBy News RoomOctober 29, 20263 ViewsNo Comments

A so-called “luxury” baby care brand is defending the quality of its diapers following over 600 complaints of severe redness, peeling skin and burn-like injuries.

“Our diapers and training pants passed every test conducted as part of our independent investigation,” the Millie Moon team posted Wednesday on Instagram.

“No harmful bacteria were detected in the samples tested, and the products met the requirements assessed under the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).”

Millie Moon disposable diapers — manufactured by Zuru LLC and sold everywhere from Target to Whole Foods and Dollar General — are marketed as “so soft, they feel like a cloud.” The diapers are said to be crafted from “high-quality materials” without lotions, latex and fragrances.

But some parents say that the diapers harmed their children, and Consumer Reports is calling for a recall. A class action lawsuit filed this month alleges that Millie Moon diapers are defective, leaky and cause severe skin reactions.

One Indiana 2-year-old landed in the hospital burn unit due to injuries to his buttocks and genital area after allegedly trying a Millie Moon potty training diaper.

“It’s upsetting. This is our child, and he’s in so much pain,” Logan Marker, the boy’s mother, told Fox 59 last week.

“I’ve seen so many reports and so many comments of the exact same thing has happened; that’s when I get upset. Pay the medical bills not just for me but for all the families whose kids went to the ER.”

Reports share a common theme

More than 600 incidents involving Millie Moon diapers have been reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission this year. According to Consumer Reports, no other brand of diapers came close to that number of reports during the same period.

Many of the reports share common symptoms: a painful, severe, red rash with blisters. Several of the reports mention seeking emergency care.

“We went to the emergency room, where an exam and urine test ruled out infection,” one parent reported. “The physician determined the diaper caused a chemical burn-type irritation across the entire area it contacted.”

A North Carolina parent reported “a bleeding, peeling rash/burn” on the baby’s hips, where the diaper fasteners sat, after using the brand without issue for eight months.

Millie Moon said in its Wednesday statement that extensive testing of its diapers and training pants with six independent laboratories yielded no “product-related cause for the reported reactions.”

Millie Moon stands by its products

Many of the reports say there was no issue with Millie Moon products until recently.

“We opened a new box of Millie moon overnight diapers that we have never had issues with before and the first one from the new box immediately within twenty minutes had my baby screaming in pain,” one report said.

Another parent wrote that they’d used Millie Moon diapers since 2024, stopped for a few months and returned to “our trusted” brand. When they did, “almost immediately I noticed what looked [like] blisters on my sons bottom.”

Millie Moon said it hasn’t changed anything major about its products, like the materials, suppliers or construction.

The only change was in February 2026, to the placement of a printed design on the outer layer of the diaper.

“Across the samples tested, the results identified no evidence of contamination, unexpected substances, manufacturing defects or product performance issues,” Millie Moon told Consumer Reports.

What to do if you use Millie Moon diapers

Customers can contact Millie Moon via a form on its website. The brand said in its Instagram statement that it “remains committed to reviewing every concern. If we identify a product-related cause, we will act appropriately and share what we find.”

Experts told WCPO that parents should monitor their children for any reaction to the diapers. Stop use immediately if they develop irritation, redness, peeling or signs of a burn and consult their pediatrician.

Document everything from the packaging, including the batch date, photograph any reactions and keep medical documentation if you seek care.

If there’s an issue, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
