New Titans receiver Wan’Dale Robinson will honor a friend with his jersey this year.
Robinson appeared on “Up and Adams” on Thursday and told host Kay Adams his reason for choosing the No. 4 this season in Tennessee had to do with the late Rondal Moore, who died earlier this year.
Moore wore the number with the Cardinals and Vikings.
“I was going in wanting a single digit, and then also my late friend Rondale Moore, he wore No. 4,” said Robinson, who wore No. 17 during his four seasons with the Giants. “So, that was kind of the reasoning behind me getting that number, you know, just kind of to honor him and the time that he was here.”
Moore was found dead at his home in Indiana in February. Police said the 25-year-old died from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Robinson knew Moore was from the Louisville area, and both trained together at a local facility and shared the trait of being shorter receivers. Both players joined Big Ten schools: Robinson joined Nebraska and played there for two seasons before transferring to Kentucky, while Moore went to Purdue.
Robinson said that he never wanted to wear No. 17 with the Titans, which is worn by Chimere Dike and was donned by Titans first-round pick Carnell Tate at Ohio State. Robinson said it was time to let 17 go, which gave him the chance to honor a friend.
“That’s where I was going in, I wanted No. 4. I don’t know about Carnell and exactly what went on with him and Chim,” Robinson added. But, yeah, I was good with leaving 17 in the past.”
Robinson, in his final year with the Giants, eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career in 2025.
After signing a three-year, $78 million contract, he reunites with ex-Giants coach Brian Daboll, who is the Titans’ new offensive coordinator.
