Trump says FBI ‘wasting their time’ at Sen. Lindsey Graham’s home

WASHINGTON — FBI agents are “wasting their time” investigating at the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s Capitol Hill residence after the 71-year-old lawmaker’s sudden death Saturday night, President Trump told reporters Tuesday.

“I don’t see a lot of evil there,” he said after agents were seen at the South Carolina Republican’s townhouse. “There’s all sorts of conspiracy theories going along. … I think the FBI is wasting their time if they’re doing that.”

Trump said that Graham, who died of an apparent aortic dissection, had complained recently of a “bad back,” which the president said was “one of the primary signs” that he could suffer the life-ending heart attack.

Graham returned from a trip to Ukraine hours before his death — fueling speculation that the Kremlin may have had a hand, owing to his stalwart support for Kyiv including calling for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

FBI Director Kash Patel said Sunday that the bureau “is assisting local authorities and has made every necessary resource available.”

A significant number of FBI agents were seen Sunday and Monday at Graham’s residence.

Nearly 20 agents were present on Monday alone, NBC reported.

Here’s the latest on the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham:

Trump said he was satisfied with medical explanations, pointing out that Graham’s father died in his sleep of a heart attack at age 69.

“At first I heard it was clogged arteries, because he did have clogged arteries. He had a problem with that. I wish he took better care of himself,” Trump said.

“What happened is actually something that’s very hard to detect. It was not related to any blockage,” Trump added.

“I’ve watched all the medical reports, I’ve had the doctors from the White House come in and explain what happened,” he added.

“Sounds unfortunate, but there’s not much you can do about it … his father died of the same thing at about the same age,” the president went on.

“They say it’s almost undetectable. You can detect it if you have a very bad back… and he would tell me had a bad back, but little did anyone know it was because of that.”
