WASHINGTON — President Trump railed Tuesday against his three nominees to the Supreme Court after each of them voted to block new rules governing mail-in ballots from taking effect ahead of the November midterms.
“These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves,” Trump wrote about Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.
“This Supreme Court is bullied and cajoled by the Radical Left into making decisions that have set America back at least a hundred years.”
Only Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas sided with Trump, who had asked the high court to stay a lower court decision enjoining the president’s March order.
The new rules would have required each state to draft a list of citizens who are eligible to vote, while absentee ballots would only be sent to those on the approved list in secure envelopes with barcodes in an effort to prevent election fraud.
