President Trump announced Saturday that Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White has been offered the job of White House press secretary.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump declared in a Truth Social post.
“I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris,” the president wrote.
In a sign the offer might have been tongue-in-cheek, Trump posted images of the growling UFC fighters – along with a shot of White wearing a suit behind a podium bearing the POTUS seal.
“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!” Trump concluded.
White, 57, seemingly responded to the offer on his Instagram Stories, posting an image of himself in the press briefing room with the caption, “On to the next chapter.”
The Post has reached out to the White House and UFC for confirmation that the offer had been extended and for any updates on the vacant position.
Trump has a long-standing relationship with White and even partnered with him to set up a UFC cage fight on the South Lawn of the White House in June to mark the 250th anniversary of the US.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung held a similar media role for UFC before he joined Trump.
The pivotal press secretary post has been vacant since Katie Zacharia left on October 16 after just five days on the job — a period which included a pair of disastrous Fox News interviews and a sole press briefing that lasted just 15 minutes.
That departure left Trump without a press secretary in the final few weeks before Republicans suffered an electoral knockout in the midterms.
Zacharia’s marked the shortest stint ever for a Trump aide — defeating the record set previously by White House communications chief Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted just 11 days before being canned in 2017.
