Trump ‘happy’ Prince Harry, Meghan Markle left US — but he ‘would not have taken them back’

President Trump said he is “happy” that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the United States to resettle in England, adding that if he were the royal family, “I would not have taken them back.”

“I’m happy about it,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office when asked about the departure of the Duke and Duchess from California. “I was not a fan.”

He particularly singled out Markle for her behavior to the late Queen Elizabeth II and her treatment of King Charles.

“I thought they treated the royal family with great disrespect. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the way she acted. I thought she was terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles,” he said.

Trump has long been enamored of the British royal family.

Queen Elizabeth hosted him for a state visit in his first term and King Charles hosted him in his second — giving him a rare double state visit for an American president.

Trump reciprocated by hosting King Charles and Queen Camilla for a state visit in April.

“I wouldn’t have taken them back,” Trump added of the wayward couple. “If I were the royal family… I would not have taken them back.”

The Duke and Duchess — along with their kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5 — returned to England last week, arriving on a private jet to start a new chapter after their failed attempt to take Hollywood by storm.

The couple are reportedly staying in the posh Cotswolds area of the country on the estate of Ian Wace — the CEO of Marshall Wace LLP, with a net worth estimated at $1.2 billion — who reportedly helped finance their return to the UK.

They do not have public security and are not expected to return as working royals. Archie and Lilibet will attend a local school while their parents house hunt for a permanent residence in the countryside.

Harry, 41, and Markle, 45, had reportedly been planning to flee their $14 million mansion in sunny Southern California for several weeks — if not months.

The duo crept back to Harry’s homeland after their failed bid to become successful book authors, political influencers, Netflix stars or jam makers.
