Tony DeAngelo exits with injury as Islanders’ defense takes another hit

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 24, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Tony DeAngelo pulled up while backchecking in the first period and missed the rest of the Islanders’ match against Chicago on Tuesday night.

The club called it a lower-body injury for DeAngelo, marking the second injury to their defense corps in just a few days.

Ryan Pulock has missed their last two games, also with a lower-body injury, as well.

The Isles called up Isaiah George to serve as the seventh defenseman on Tuesday, so he is presumably the next man up.

The right side of their defense corps, though, is suddenly down by two-thirds without Pulock, who plays on the top pair, and DeAngelo, who is on the second pair.

DeAngelo was hustling back to defend a 2-on-0 Chicago rush following a Mat Barzal turnover in the first period, but pulled up and stopped moving easily. He attempted to defend the rest of the play, but did so ineffectively as Nick Lardis scored to tie the game at one.

DeAngelo went up the tunnel right after that.
