Tom Brady finally reveals Super Bowl 2026 rooting interest after Patriots backlash

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 7, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

The Patriot in Tom Brady finally came out.

After earning scorn from former teammates and fans after taking a neutral approach to Super Bowl 2026, Brady revealed late Friday night that he is indeed pulling for the Patriots against the Seahawks.

“You know I got your back RKK,” Brady captioned a photo of him and Patriots owner Robert Kraft in an Instagram Story. “Get that 7th ring so we can match.”

Brady also posted a photo of the pair alongside NFL commissioner — and sometimes foe — Robert Kraft, writing, “I bet even Roger is rooting for you,” along with a laughing tears emoji.

The future Hall of Famer and current Fox Sports analyst’s posts Friday provided a stark contrast to his unbiased approach that had those in Boston up in arms earlier this week.

It all started when Brady, won six Super Bowl titles with the Patriots from 2000-19, said on the “Let’s Go” podcast that he would be taking a diplomatic approach as a fan.

“I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one,” Brady told Jim Grey earlier this week. “May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England and I’m glad everyone’s embraced the Mike Vrabel regime. All the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position. We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it’s a very exciting time for everyone in New England.”

The minority Raiders owner further explained that he’s rooting more for individuals than a team.

“I really root for people and the people I care about,” Brady added. “The people who, I know the work that goes in to what they’re trying to accomplish. I really want to sit back as a fan and enjoy the game, enjoy the moment. I always think, ‘May the best team win.’ It’s not going to be who I’m cheering for or who I think is going to win, it’s going to be decided by the people out there on the field.”

Well, that response did not sit well in New England.

Former teammate Vince Wilfork, who won two rings with Brady in New England, called it “bullcrap,” while Asante Samuel said he’s “highly disappointed” and went off on the ex-quarterback in an X spree.

“That’s bullcrap, Tom,” Wilfork said on WEEI on Wednesday. “Come on, now. All that political — this ain’t political. It ain’t political, what it is. Haters ain’t in it. Say what it is, what you see.

“At the end of the day, if you’re a Patriot for life you know what it is. Don’t give me that political bull crap, that’s just what it is. If you don’t think we gonna win, then just pick Seattle then. Don’t straddle the fence.”

Brady will not be on the call for the Super Bowl since NBC has the rights for this year’s game, and New England is attempting to win its record seventh title and first without Brady under center.

He led them to championships in the 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014 — against the Seahawks — 2016 and 2018 seasons, before winning his seventh Super Bowl with the Buccaneers during the 2020 campaign.

Kraft and the Patriots would break a tie with the Steelers for the most rings with a win Sunday, while Seattle is aiming for its second championship.
