The Giants were, by far, the biggest underdog in the NFL for the slate of games in Week 7. The Texans were 10.5-point favorites, the only spread close to double figures. Yes, the Giants entered the game with a record of 3-2-1. The Texans were 2-4. Clearly, those records were pushed to the side when it came to assessing this matchup.
It turned out to be a bad spread. The Giants took a 7-3 lead midway through the first quarter and never again trailed in the game. When the game went into overtime, it was the Giants who picked up their performance and came away with a 27-21 victory inside Reliant Stadium.
As the Giants take a record of 4-2-1 into their bye week, here is a look back at how they secured their fourth victory — matching their win total for the entire 2025 season:
— It all came together for J.J. McCarthy, almost as if the entire offensive unit got together and decided it needed to pick it up for the new starting quarterback. This was a top-level outing for the offensive line and especially the two ailing tackles, Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor, who did yeoman work against gifted edge rushers Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson. This was the best rushing attack (188 yards) of the season, by far the best production from Cam Skattebo (17-124) and a stunning game-ending 30-yard scoring run from Devin Singletary, who not long ago was a healthy scratch in three straight games. Any and every quarterback benefits from a balanced offense. McCarthy looked completely at ease with the playbook and new teammates he has been around for less than a month. Add in some crisp play-calling from coordinator Matt Nagy and you have a big-time winning formula.
