Tech giant Oracle rocked by another wave of layoffs after employees receive devastating 6 am email

News RoomBy News RoomSeptember 14, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

Oracle employees woke up Monday to a brutal email informing them it would be their last day at the tech giant in its latest round of layoffs.

The tech giant sent out termination emails at 6 a.m., citing “broader organizational change” as the reason for the layoffs.

“After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day,” the layoff email read, reported Business Insider.

Oracle instructed laid-off workers to immediately sign the termination paperwork to secure their severance packages, according to the report.

Affected workers were informed that severance eligibility remains subject to the terms and conditions of Oracle’s severance plan, with specific details regarding termination dates and compensation packages to be sent via DocuSign to their corporate email addresses.

“Access to your computer, email, voicemail, and files will be deactivated soon, and you will be unable to log into your computer. As a reminder, you are prohibited from downloading, copying or retaining (including emailing yourself any Oracle confidential information),” the alleged email read.

It’s the company’s third round of workforce reductions this year. Earlier this year in August, Business Insider reported that select teams were bracing for double-digit percentage headcount reductions.

A source with direct knowledge told the outlet that managers had been instructed to submit lists of impacted employees to trim payroll ahead of the company’s second quarter, which began September 1.

Oracle already eliminated 21,000 full-time jobs — roughly 13% of its global workforce — during fiscal year 2026, which ended May 31. The company attributed the cuts to restructuring, performance issues, strategic shifts and acquisitions, while spending $1.84 billion on severance and restructuring.

Despite taking on substantial debt, Oracle reported US$57 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025. According to the company’s website, that performance was powered by a global workforce of 141,000, which includes 29,000 consulting experts and over 18,000 customer support specialists speaking more than 20 languages.
