The 2025 Emmy Awards were a star-studded affair, but some notable names — including nominees — missed out on the awards show.
Jeremy Allen White, who was up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, didn’t walk the Emmys red carpet on Sunday, September 14, for the first time since Hulu’s The Bear premiered in June 2022. This was also the first year since the show’s inception that he didn’t take home the lead actor award, which went to Seth Rogen for his role as Matt Remick in The Studio.
White’s costar Ayo Edebiri, who was also up for an award this year, didn’t attend the ceremony either, but The Bear fans saw Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Abby Elliott and other cast members grace the event.
Eric Dane, meanwhile, was set to make his first major appearance at the Emmys since announcing his ALS diagnosis in April. The actor was expected to appear alongside former Grey’s Anatomy costar Jesse Williams, but when it came time to present, Williams appeared on the stage solo.

Jeremy Allen White
Variety reported that White missed the Emmys to attend his best friend’s wedding.
Eric Dane
Details about Dane’s absence have not yet been revealed. (Us Weekly has reached out to Dane’s team for comment.)
Williams praised his bond with Dane before the ceremony, telling Entertainment Tonight, “It’s really wonderful. I had a really wonderful time working with him, in particular, but the show has had — everywhere I go — the show has had, and continues to have, a really remarkable, emotional, intellectual impact on people all over the globe.”
Ayo Edebiri
The actress did not attend Sunday’s awards show due to a “scheduling conflict,” according to E! News. Edebiri is currently filming a project in Japan.
Sofia Vergara
The Modern Family alum was set to present at Sunday’s awards show but was forced to back out at the last minute after going to the emergency room.
“Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER,” she captioned an Instagram post on Sunday. “Sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye [allergy] right before getting in the car!”
Bella Ramsey
The Last of Us star was up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for their role as Ellie in the HBO show, but they didn’t step out for the event. Their reason is not yet known. (Severance’s Britt Lower ultimately won in the lead actress category.)
Beyoncé
The singer was up for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for her Beyoncé Bowl Christmas Day NFL performance that was streamed via Netflix in December 2024. She got a few shout-outs throughout the Emmys evening but didn’t appear in the crowd. Beyoncé lost the category to SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
