Sore-loser Argentina turn their backs to Spain during World Cup trophy celebration after igniting post-match brawl

News RoomBy News RoomJuly 20, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

If you weren’t looking closely, you might have missed the dirty move Argentina pulled on Spain after the final whistle.

They took measures beyond the post-match brawl to show their frustrations toward losing the World Cup Final 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

During the trophy ceremony, Argentina players turned their backs as Spain lifted the trophy as the newly crowned champions.

After collecting their silver medals from FIFA boss Gianni Infantino and US President Donald Trump on the stage, Argentina turned their backs to not watch Spain accept their medals and hold up the trophy in victory.

Photos show gold confetti in the air as Spain celebrates with the Argentina players facing the other direction.

The players had clearly lost their heads as they also sparked a full out brawl when an enraged Leandro Paredes charged toward and punched Spain defender Eric García.

He forced him to the ground by striking García with his open hand toward his throat.

Then, the larger fight started to break out and Paredes was given a red card as he started the whole incident in front of assistant referee Tomaž Klančnik and an Argentina coach.

“He went for them. There is no place or space for that,” BBC soccer analyst Alan Shearer said. “We know how much it means to them and we know how much it hurts to lose, but there is a way to lose. Too many times we have seen that from Argentina.”

Other incidents occurred including Argentina’s Nahuel Molina hitting Rodri in the stomach as he was running by to celebrate with his team.

Argentina was simply out played by Spain, who largely controlled possession and even caused Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez set a historic World Cup record with 11 saves.

They failed to put on the same pressure and physicality against Spain as they showed against England in the semifinal last week.

Tempers even flared during the game after Enzo Fernandez was issued a red card for a reckless challenge on Pau Cubarsi.

After a scoreless game in regulation, Ferran Torres was subbed in and knocked in the winning goal during extra time to seal Spain’s second World Cup title — first since 2010.
