‘Sister Wives 1-on-1’ Recap: Kody and Meri Argue Over Who Paid House Insurance, Non-Disclosure Agreement

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 19, 20263 ViewsNo Comments

Kody Brown and ex-wife Meri Brown butted heads throughout their marriage — but since calling it quits in 2023, their biggest fights have been over money and property.

During part 2 of the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 special, which aired on Sunday, January 18, Kody, 56, and Meri, 54, revealed that their arguments over money dated back to the sale of the Las Vegas house, not the Coyote Pass property that they co-owned with Janelle Brown and Robyn Brown.

“She wanted all the money from it,” Kody claimed during the episode, alleging that Meri didn’t want to split the proceeds of the Vegas house sale down the middle.

Meri, however, claimed she had “never fought” Kody on the fact that he was owed half since they were legally married when they purchased the property.

Kody, for his part, alleged during the reunion that he and Meri were still working on a “negotiation” over the Vegas money, which trickled down into Meri delaying the sale of the family’s Coyote Pass property in Arizona. (Coyote Pass sold in April 2025 for a reported $1.5 million.)

According to Meri, her only hesitation with Coyote Pass was because of the non-disclosure clause/confidentiality agreement Kody’s current wife, Robyn, 47, wanted her to sign.

Scroll down for the biggest revelations from part 2 of the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 special, including Kody and Meri’s accounts of what really happened with their finances:

The Las Vegas House Debacle

Kody and Meri, along with then-sister wives Christine Brown, Janelle, 56, and Robyn, all lived in Las Vegas from 2011 to approximately 2018. During that time, every wife had their own house on adjoining lots in a cul-de-sac.

Since Kody and Meri were legally married from 1990 to 2014, when they sold the house the profits should have been split equally, however, the exes, who announced their split in 2023, have since claimed there are issues with the payout. (Christine, 53, and Kody split in 2021 and Janelle and Kody parted ways in 2022, while Robyn is still married to Kody.)

“That’s not how our divorce decree went. It was 50/50,” Kody said during the Sunday reunion episode, claiming that Meri wanted all the proceeds from the Vegas house and “wouldn’t recognize all the money that Robyn and I had put into Coyote Pass, but yet still wanted 25 percent of it.”

Meri clapped back at the allegations, telling host Sukanya Krishnan that although it would have made sense for her to have the “full amount of the equity” of the house because she was the “only one who lived in it for the majority of the time that we owned it,” she never asked for all the money.

Meri further alleged, “I’m the one who made all the payments. But you know what? Your name was on it. So you can have half of it. Like literally, that’s how I felt. I’m not going to fight that.”

When asked why Kody had equity in the Vegas house at all, Meri explained that it was because it was “the loan that I have to purchase Robyn’s house in Flagstaff, [Arizona].” Meri claimed that every penny of the house she sold in Vegas went into Robyn’s Arizona house.

Robyn, however, had a different story to tell. She claimed that Meri “told” her she was supposed to get all of the money from the Vegas sale. Robyn also claimed that Kody “paid her insurance” and he was “taking care” of other bills while Meri was paying the mortgage.

“I paid those bills,” Meri fired back. “The insurance is usually on the house payment and the mortgage. He didn’t pay. I’m amused there. That’s ridiculous.”

Robyn Brown’s House Money

Kody and Meri’s money issues also stem from her contribution to Robyn’s Arizona home, which Janelle helped purchase as well while they were all still in a polygamist family.

“It was a process of, like, you know, Meri and Janelle both put money into my home down payment. We had already made Janelle square. She said 100 percent we were square with her, but Meri hadn’t,” Robyn recalled during Sunday’s episode, noting that Meri was “worried” about getting her investment back plus money for both Vegas and Coyote Pass, which allegedly caused a delay in the Arizona land sale.

Robyn claimed, “There was this back-and-forth situation. We talked about a non-disclosure because it was like, ‘Let’s not fight about finances publicly.’ So we were sitting there waiting for all of this to get figured out.”

She alleged that Meri was “trying to get to a place where she felt comfortable,” and that Robyn and Kody felt that “some of the things that she was asking for didn’t feel fair.”

Coyote Pass Confidentiality Impass

Meri and Janelle both claimed during season 20 of the TLC series that Robyn surprised them with a confidentiality agreement or a non-disclosure agreement that she wanted them to sign when the first offer came in on Coyote Pass.

Meri, however, didn’t want to be “silenced” so she didn’t sign it.

“Meri didn’t like the non-disclosure. She was worried that it was going to be a sort of gag order on her and she was not comfortable with that,” Robyn recalled during the reunion. “And then also just going back and forth a little bit with, like, considering the money that Kody and I put into Coyote Pass that they hadn’t put into Coyote Pass, she didn’t want to consider that. And then her wanting all of the money from her house proceeds when Kody and her own the house jointly.”

Janelle remembered that Meri didn’t want to sign the agreement because “she wouldn’t be able to pursue her lost money” in the Vegas house sale. Meri, for her part, confirmed that Coyote Pass’ sale was delayed because she refused to sign the papers.

Robyn Also Felt the Pressure to Sell

Robyn recalled during the TV special that Kody “kept pressuring me and pressuring me” and even “threatening me a little bit” to agree to the Coyote Pass sale before Meri signed off.

“I was like, fine, if you want to go down this road, then I will go legal on you too, OK? Because I actually have a percentage in this property and I will sit here in the middle of this road — and I will make sure we don’t sell this property until we do this fairly,” she said, noting she refused to go along with Kody and Janelle’s alleged “backdoor deal” to sell the land out from under Meri.

Robyn started to cry thinking about how Kody in that moment changed into someone she didn’t recognize.

“I was like, ‘You’re better than this. You’re not being the man I married,’ and I called him out hard,” she recounted.

Kody Supports Christine and David’s Marriage

Later in the episode, Kody sounded off on Christine and her new husband, David Woolley’s relationship after meeting with them both as part of his season 20 apology tour.

“They seem healthy and whole in their relationship,” Kody said of the couple. “I want Christine to be able to just release it — just this experience with me. So I want her and David to feel free. I want her to feel — go on in love.”

Kody then revealed that he watched Christine and David’s October 2023 wedding and was “smiling through the entire thing almost.” He explained, “It was fun to see Christine in a great spot. It’s sort of kind of her dreams come true.”

Kody’s Cringe-Worthy Attraction to Christine

While Kody was “very happy” to see Christine find The One in David, his remarks about being in “love” with her in the past made everyone uncomfortable. After apologizing for saying he didn’t love Christine following their split, Christine shared during the reunion, “I wish you never would have said, ‘I never should have said that I didn’t love you because I did love you.’ I felt that was so disrespectful to David right here.”

Christine acknowledged that Kody “probably came with the best intentions” but it was still “absolutely bizarre.”

Kody only made matters worse during the reunion when he recalled being attracted to Christine after she got a “professional job” and bought a really great pantsuit to celebrate.

“We’re in the middle of a move and she’s going to have this new job. And I was just like, ‘You look so damn good in that pantsuit that you have to have it,’” he recalled. Kody later said, “I think she misinterpreted a lot of that when we started to break up. It wasn’t a matter of physical attraction. It was a matter of trust attraction.”

Christine, however, told host Krishnan that Kody has “no right whatsoever” to comment about finding her attractive now that she is in a new relationship. “Thant’s playing a game with me,” she claimed.

“I don’t like to have this conversation about him liking how I used to look. I don’t want to have that conversation. That’s just gross to me,” she added. “David loves how I look. And I know that he loves how he looks.”

Part 3 of Sister Wives: 1-on-1 airs on TLC Sunday, January 25, at 10 p.m. ET.
