Sheriff Says Man Accused of Killing Parents Should Have Been in Jail Before Murder-Suicide

News RoomBy News RoomAugust 13, 20267 ViewsNo Comments

After Justin Sislo was accused of killing his parents in an apparent murder-suicide a sheriff revealed that he never should have been let out of jail due to his history of legal troubles.

As Us previously reported, authorities believe Sislo, 35, killed his parents in Madison, New York, before he died by suicide on Friday, August 7.

His parents, Steve Sislo and Donna Walker-Sislo, were found dead in their home on McCormick Road after sustaining gunshot wounds.

“While observing the residence from the exterior, the first responding Deputy observed two adult subjects, obviously deceased, through a main level window. Upon making entry to the home, a third adult subject was located deceased inside,” officials said at the time of the incident.

Just weeks before the killings, Steve, 76, and Donna, 72, paid $10,000 to bail Justin out of jail after he was arrested on more than two dozen charges related to a domestic violence case. Authorities also confirmed he was bailed out of jail twice in one month, and was most recently arrested on July 29.

On Monday, August 11, Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood said that Justin never should have been released from jail, according to WSYR. Hood added that he said he wishes the judge had never set a bail for Justin and that he would have been forced to stay in custody.

Authorities have also shared more insight into Justin’s domestic violence case, which involved his ex-girlfriend. “The incident really took place over six months,” Madison County Sheriff’s Office Lt. AJ Silverman said, per WSYR. “There was a lot we had to look into in regards medical records, and injuries, and source of those injuries.”

Amid the investigation, police got permission to search Justin’s house and remove weapons.

The initial investigation began when Moravia officers responded to a rehab facility to speak to Justin’s ex-girlfriend in late June. During the meeting, authorities found scratches and bruises that covered her body. Justin was indicted within two weeks by a Cayuga County Grand Jury on strangulation and endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person.

Police have not said if the woman was in the rehab facility due to the injuries she sustained from Justin.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that Justin was previously arrested in Las Vegas for a similar assault against the same victim at another time.

Justin was involved in another legal issue when police responded to the parent’s home in 2024 after he and his father got into a fight.

“He reported that Justin had showed up to his residence in a manic state, they’d gotten into a minor physical altercation … and that he was speaking a bunch of non-sense, not making a lot of sense and was talking about cults,” Captain Jon Morticelli said.
