Selma Blair is speaking out more than two weeks after she was arrested for an alleged altercation on a Delta flight.
The actress, 54, fought back tears as she addressed and apologized for the incident in a video posted via Instagram on Friday, October 30.
“Hi, it’s me. And I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11th and you deserve to hear from me directly and I’m sorry that it’s taken this long,” she began. “There is a legal matter going on and my lawyers have asked me to not say anything about that day and I’m listening to them and I take this very seriously.”
While she did not get into specifics of the flight incident, Blair insisted she was sorry for what had occurred and she never intended any ill will.
“What I can tell you, though, is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself, and that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life,” she said. “To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry.”
Blair also shared her gratitude for people who had expressed their support in the wake of the scandal.
“And to the people that have written, or called, or sent wishes of love or caring, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as is [Blair’s service dog] Scout, who is also okay,” Blair said.
The Cruel Intentions star concluded the message by sharing, “So right now I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love.”
Blair was arrested earlier this month after allegedly assaulting flight attendants on a plane ride from Los Angeles to New York.
“She was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the JFK Port Authority Police Department told Us in a statement on October 11. “Two flight attendants also reported injuries, and one was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The FBI is investigating this incident.”
Blair, whose lawyer claimed the assault was not intentional and that she was confused after missing doses of her multiple sclerosis medication, pleaded not guilty to the charges during a October 12, hearing. She was released from police custody on bond.
“Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight,” Blair’s rep told Us in an October 16 statement, addressing the incident for the first time. “There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”
The spokesperson further hit back against “outrageous” speculation about Blair’s MS battle.
“Her diagnosis has been public since 2018. What Selma has been able to do physically in the years since is nothing short of a miracle. She still has bad days, and she lives with pain daily,” the statement continued. “Selma also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition secondary to her MS, which bears directly on how a medical episode presents to people who do not know her. For the same reason, she travels with a service dog who doesn’t leave her side, and the authorities took her dog from her.”
Per the spokesperson, Blair has continued working on multiple projects since her diagnosis while also becoming a “visible and relentless advocate for disability rights.”
The statement concluded, “There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we ask to consider the entirety of the facts before rushing to judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion.”
Blair’s next hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027.
