Rory McIlroy’s Masters dinner is the most expensive of all-time — with pricey wine and ‘a lot of elk’

News RoomBy News RoomApril 7, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

The wine — and elk — will be flowing in Augusta on Tuesday.

Rory McIroy will be hosting the Champions Dinner on Tuesday night as is tradition for the past year’s winner.

The full details of McIlroy’s menu has been revealed and The Sun reported that it is the most expensive Masters dinner ever, coming in at $264 a plate.

It is McIlroy’s responsibility to pay for the dinner, which includes four bottles of wine to choose from. That is led by a bottle of 2022 Domaine Laflaive Batard-Montrachet — a white burgundy from France, as detailed by The Palm Beach Post.

“I’ll just be incredibly grateful that I’m a part of it,” McIlroy told reporters on Sunday. “I want to share that with everyone in the room. It is the most exclusive dinner club in all of sport and I think we should all feel very fortunate that we are there.

“We’re there because of the hard work and the good play that we’ve been able to produce.”

The main course consists of wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon with a dessert of sticky toffee pudding with ice cream.

However, McIlroy’s personal touch could perhaps most be witnessed in the appetizers, with the elk sliders among the options alongside peach and ricotta flatbread, shrimp tempura and bacon-wrapped dates.

“In the build up to the Masters last year, I was eating a lot of elk. I got this big shipment of elk, and I was eating a lot of that,” McIlroy said. “[But] I didn’t want elk to be the main course, because I didn’t know if everyone would like that, so I incorporated it into the appetizers.”

While there should be a hearty collection of green jackets on Tuesday night, two of the most notable past champions will be absent.

Tiger Woods is believed to be in Switzerland receiving treatment for painkiller addiction after a recent DUI, while Phil Mickelson is dealing with a family health issue.

“Unfortunately, there will be a couple of guys that won’t be in that room, which is a shame, but I want to make sure that they’re acknowledged as well,” the 36-year-old McIlroy said. “They’ve been two of the greatest champions that the Masters has ever seen. But it’s going to be a really cool night. I can’t wait. I hope everyone enjoys the dinner and enjoys everything that I’ve selected.”

McIlroy will then begin the defense of his Masters title, which came in a playoff over Justin Rose and completed the career grand slam, on Thursday.
