Rep. Lauren Boebert’s troubled eldest son was arrested in Colorado Sunday on felony child sexual exploitation charges.
Tyler Boebert, 21, was taken into custody by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office on an arrest warrant for “sexual exploitation of a child and multiple other charges,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
“The arrest follows an investigation conducted by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office and a felony review process by the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office,” the department added.
Tyler was freed from county jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
The Denver Post reported that Tyer could face as many as five felonies, including sexual exploitation of a child, child exploitation with intent to distribute sexually exploitative material, a charge related to videotaped material and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The charges reportedly stem from an alleged incident that took place in early 2024, when Tyler would’ve been 18.
Court records show Tyler has an appearance at the Garfield County courthouse scheduled for Aug. 19.
“I love my son,” Rep. Boebert said in a statement.
“We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time,” the congresswoman added.
Tyler, the eldest of Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson’s four sons, has had several run-ins with the law in the past.
In 2024, he was hit with 22 criminal charges, including five felonies, following a string of alleged thefts in Colorado.
In October of that year, Tyler pleaded guilty to one count of attempted identity theft and the remaining charges were dismissed. The plea agreement included a two year deferred judgement and he was ordered to complete 80 hours of community service.
In 2025, he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse, which his mother attributed to “a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of our house.”
Tyler was slapped with another child abuse charge earlier this year after he allegedly allowed his 2-year-old son to walk out of the congresswoman’s home a second time.
Boebert (R-Colo) told 9News she was “very frustrated” at what happened, saying there was “no excuse.”
“A kind woman quickly and safely secured him, and authorities were called as a precaution,” she added.
