Rep. Jimmy Gomez’s mystery makeout IDed as Eric Swalwell’s chief of staff

WASHINGTON — The mystery woman Rep. Jimmy Gomez admitted to making “mistakes” with is his best buddy Eric Swalwell’s former chief of staff, The Post can reveal.

The married California Democrat had an 11-month-old child at home when he was caught in a moment of passion with Swalwell’s minxy congressional aide Yardena Wolf three years ago.

Gomez, the founder of the Dads Caucus in Congress, confessed Tuesday in a statement that he cheated on his wife after The Post’s reporting on the encounter with Wolf, which kicked off a House Ethics Committee investigation, yielding fresh tips on his conduct.

Wolf, at the time 29, and Gomez, then 48, were spotted having an intimate moment against a car outside a party at Swalwell’s home north of the Capitol in the summer of 2023 — about two years into her tenure as Swalwell’s top staffer.

Wolf, a rising star in Democratic circles, received a glowing profile in Elle in 2024 and the same year she co-launched an artificial intelligence-powered fundraising company with Swalwell.

She seemed to be a willing participant in the raunchy romance, but tipsters said it was nonetheless troubling, including because Gomez was married with a young son.

Two witnesses described the encounter to The Post shortly after Swalwell resigned from Congress in April amid allegations of predatory sexual behavior.

Gomez was among the clients of the Wolf-Swalwell AI firm, called Findraiser.

Sources described Gomez, now 51, as “a dog,” contrary to his self-promoted image as a dedicated family man and founder of the Dads Caucus to champion fatherhood — but he denied inappropriate behavior until confessing Tuesday to “personal mistakes outside my marriage.”

He has not publicly been accused of illegal conduct, unlike Swalwell, who was accused of raping an aide when she was too drunk to consent to sex.

Wolf and Gomez were spotted going at it outside a party hosted by Swalwell to celebrate the start of the annual summer recess while most attendees were in Swalwell’s backyard.

The brazen encounter was seen by a group of Democratic aides waiting for their Uber and another who was smoking a cigarette.

Both Gomez and Wolf vigorously denied the encounter ever occurred when contacted by The Post in April, though both acknowledged attending the party in question.

The Post did not publish Wolf’s name in its initial coverage.

“She and Swalwell are two peas in a pod,” said a Democratic congressional aide, who personally witnessed the make-out session. “… When they get caught, they gaslight the s–t out of you to make you question your sanity.”

A different Democratic source, who also saw the incident, said Wolf’s relationship with Gomez was “literally the biggest open secret in Democratic politics.”

“[Gomez] clearly already lied about this whole thing once already. Neither of them can really be trusted,” this person said.

A third Democrat, who did not personally see Gomez and Wolf in a compromising position, heard of multiple encounters from trusted colleagues.

Other sightings of the pair were relayed to The Post but could not be confirmed with multiple independent sources or documentary evidence.

Wolf still denies having a relationship with Gomez.

“It remains not true,” Wolf said in a text message.

CNN, which reported Gomez’s Tuesday confession, does not name the woman or women with whom he cavorted, but the context provided in the statement does not exclude Wolf.

Gomez said “my actions were consensual in nature and haven’t violated the law or House ethics rules,” implying the person in question was not his direct subordinate, which is barred explicitly by congressional policies.

Gomez’s statement emerged after the Ethics Committee “learned of other allegations of sexual misconduct” against him, CNN reported. The panel’s investigation is generally understood to involve a relationship with employees.

A Gomez spokesman would not comment on whether the confession concerns the congressman’s relationship with Wolf.

The late-breaking scandal didn’t derail Gomez’s re-election bid in his deeply Democratic Los Angeles district. He took about 46% of the vote in a Tuesday nonpartisan “jungle primary” against left-wing challenger Angela Gonzales-Torres, who placed a distant second with 25.6%, also advancing to the Nov. 3 general election.
