The Los Angeles Rams suffered more brutal injury news on Wednesday, as standout cornerback Jaylen Watson will miss the rest of the reason after needing to undergo shoulder surgery.
“Unfortunately, Jaylen Watson has to get surgery on his shoulder. He will be out for the year. That’s a big one,” said Rams’ head coach Sean McVay on Wednesday afternoon. “He’s been such a stud for us. He wanted to be able to play through it, but just understanding the totality of it all and some of the different things, it was recommended that he get that surgery.”
McVay added that Watson will be put on IR for the rest of the year.
Watson aggravated the dislocated right shoulder he suffered against the Denver Broncos earlier this season during the Rams’ win against the Los Angeles Chargers this past weekend.
Watson signed a three-year, $51 million deal this past offseason and is arguably the Rams’ most talented defensive back.
McVay said that the Rams could look to add a cornerback before the NFL trade deadline on November 10th.
