The Los Angeles Rams have spent the offseason collecting stars like a Hollywood producer assembling an Oscar cast. The only problem? A few more candles are starting to appear on the birthday cake.
According to an analysis by Bookies.com, the Rams currently own the NFL’s second-oldest roster entering the 2026-27 season, with an average age of 27 years, 214 days. Only the Atlanta Falcons, at 27 years, 220 days, are older. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have the NFL’s oldest player in Aaron Rodgers (42 years, 281 days) are the third-oldest team in the NFL at 27 years, 208 days.
Prior to the release of the official 53-man roster on Sunday afternoon, the Steelers had the oldest-roster in the NFL entering training camp, but the announcement that 35-year-old Aaron Donald was coming out of retirement to return to the Rams raised their average age.
The Falcons added kicker Nick Folk (41 years, 308 days) to their 53-man roster on Sunday, giving them the NFL’s oldest roster.
Bookies.com calculated its rankings using players currently on each team’s 53-man roster, with ages measured as of the NFL’s Sept. 9 opening night. The league-wide average is 26 years, 303 days, putting Los Angeles nearly nine months above the NFL norm. In total, 10 NFL teams currently have an average age above 27 years old.
The Rams roster isn’t designed to patiently mature. It’s constructed to win a Super Bowl now, with proven veterans surrounding a championship-caliber core. Youth may offer fresher legs, but experience matters when January football becomes a street fight.
The last team with the oldest roster in the NFL to win a Super Bowl was the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers featuring Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. They had an average roster age of roughly 27 years and 153 days.
So the Rams are in good company. Hopefully, this season will end the same way the Bucs did: by winning a Super Bowl inside their home stadium.
