Oklahoma Police Searching for Molly Miller and Colt Haynes, Missing Since 2013, Find Pair of Bodies

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 22, 20264 ViewsNo Comments

The search for Molly Miller and Colt Haynes may have come to a tragic end, 13 years after the pair vanished following a car crash in Oklahoma.

Authorities announced on Friday, February 22, that they had discovered two bodies that could be Miller — who was 17 at the time of his disappearance — and Haynes — who was 21 when she was last seen — during an extensive two-day, multi-agency search operation in Love County.

Miller and Haynes were last seen during the summer of 2013. The two were passengers in a 2012 Honda Accord involved in a frantic police chase on July 8. The vehicle ended up crashing deep into a wooded area. The driver — James “Conn” Nipp — fled the scene.

Miller and Haynes stayed behind with the wrecked car and called 911 — as well as friends — for help until their phones eventually ran out of battery power.

The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit organized the Tuesday, February 17, search operation. The remains were located on Wednesday, February 18.

Miller was a Chickasaw citizen, according to police.

The two sets of remains were collected by the FBI Evidence Response Team and the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for forensic examination and identification. At this time, police have not positively identified the bodies.

The remains are said to have been found about a mile north of where the car Molly and Colt were passengers in crashed.

Police located the bodies in an area that had not been previously canvassed. Authorities later developed information about the possible location of the wrecked car and worked with the land’s owner to coordinate an additional search.

The 2013 chase began when officers tried to stop Nipp’s speeding car in Wilson.

Officers pursued the car into Love County but briefly lost sight of the vehicle. Cops caught up to Nipp, and one officer even tapped the vehicle with his patrol unit. Eventually, Nipp evaded police for the final time before ultimately losing control of the car, which flew from the roadway deep into the woods near Oswalt.

Nipp has since been convicted for starting the car chase. In 2014, a judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison following his conviction for felony endangering others while eluding and attempting to elude police. Nipp served approximately four years of his sentence before his March 2018 release.

It is unclear if Nipp would face any additional criminal charges if the bodies are confirmed to be Molly and Colt.

For now, medical examiners are working to identify the remains as well as the cause and manner of death.

Family members have been contacted about the find and will continue to receive investigatory updates as police learn more.

The investigation continues, as police pursue additional leads and review evidence.

Anyone who may have any information relevant to the ongoing investigation should contact the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department at (580) 436-1166 or submit information anonymously here.
