Off Campus’ Antonio Cipriano Addressed Changes to Logan From the Book Before Season Was Pushed Back (Exclusive)

News RoomBy News RoomJune 2, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Antonio Cipriano addressed how Off Campus adapted — and changed details from Logan’s story in the book series — before his season of the show was delayed.

“What’s so great about the show and the adaptation is that all the writers had so much freedom to add so much more to these characters. The books are so POV driven between whoever is in their love story and there was so much more to play with,” Cipriano exclusively told Us Weekly in May about the vision for the shakeups. “You’re rooting for all of these characters.”

Cipriano expressed excitement at getting to expand on his character.

“You get to know Logan as a brother, as a teammate and as a best friend before he finds that love,” he noted. “You get to follow him on this arc of finding himself and those days. I was really grateful to have that opportunity. Now we’ve met Grace so I’m excited for him to get to meet her in the show.”

Based on the book of the same name by Elle Kennedy, the show, which premiered in May, follows an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives. Hannah (Ella Bright) and Garrett’s (Belmont Cameli) love story took center stage in season 1 — with several key moments from their book, The Deal, swapped for an updated version.

At the same time, the show set up Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) as the next possible leads despite them being featured in the third installment of the series. Prime Video recently confirmed that they would be moved up while Logan, meanwhile, is expected to be the focus of a third season alongside love interest Grace (India Fowler).

Cipriano acknowledged to Us that some of the changes on Off Campus could stir up strong reactions. More specifically, he weighed in on Hannah kissing one of Garrett’s teammates in front of him — with Kennedy’s version presenting it as Dean while the series opted for Logan.

“I know that some people are going to be a little upset about that one change. But honestly, for the story that we’re trying to tell and where Logan has that kind of spark with Hannah, it’s only going to feed the story a little bit more for his attraction toward her,” Cipriano teased at the time. “How that moment meant nothing to Hannah but everything to Logan.”

Cipriano hoped the vision came along.

“He appreciates her, and it’s all innocent and all love. I also think the addition of Jules and making him a middle child is really interesting,” he added. “It changes the dynamic completely. And I’m a middle child myself, so I feel like I knew exactly who this guy was.”

Off Campus is currently streaming on Prime Video.
