Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t catch on with the Giants during a brief New York reunion.
Now, he’ll have a chance to get his first catch of the season with the Vikings on Sunday.
The veteran wideout will be elevated off the practice squad and be on Minnesota’s active roster when it takes on the Saints in New Orleans, according to multiple reports.
Wide receivers Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring) were both listed as questionable on the Vikings’ injury report on Friday.
In case one or both are not ready to go Sunday, Beckham should give Minnesota some insurance out wide.
Beckham, 33, signed with the Giants in June and made the team’s 53-man roster ahead of Week 1 — eight years after his last game in New York.
But things didn’t really pan out in the homecoming.
Beckham was active for three games but was targeted just once.
He took just 20 total offensive snaps, marking 11 percent of the snaps in the games in which he played.
Big Blue cut Beckham on Sept. 29, and he joined Minnesota’s practice squad earlier this week.
He admitted on social media that he was taken aback by the Giants’ decision.
“I’m super smart, but I didn’t see this one my brotha,” Beckham wrote in a response to an Instagram post. “They got me!!!”
In a funny twist, Beckham took No. 9 with Minnesota, the number previously worn by quarterback J.J. McCarthy — the signal-caller New York traded for to add depth in the wake of Jaxson Dart’s season-ending knee injury.
Beckham told reporters earlier this week that he was glad another team had a desire to bring him into the fold.
“Everything happened so fast. It’s always good to be somewhere where you’re wanted. He was the one who reached out and made it happen. It seemed right,” Beckham Jr. said. “When you’re playing a sport like this where you’re laying your livelihood on the line, it always feels better when you’re doing it for somebody who you feel like their heart is there for it as well.”
