Myles Garrett addresses media as official member of the Rams for the first time since blockbuster trade

News RoomBy News RoomJuly 29, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

Los Angeles Rams training camp is in full swing and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett addressed the media Wednesday for the first time since the blockbuster trade.

“It’s been a joy; I love the culture that they already have in place,” Garrett told the media. “Many of the different players and coaches that I have been able to start building a relationship with, it’s been a real joy and pleasure, and I just want to help build them.”

The Cleveland Browns traded Garrett to the Rams on June 1 in exchange for defensive end Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick, a 2028 second-round draft pick, and a 2029 third-round draft pick.

The Rams inherited the four-year, $160 million extension Garrett signed with the Browns that includes a no-trade clause, which he waived to be traded to LA.

The deal sent shockwaves through the league as general manager Les Snead cemented the Rams as a championship contender in one swift move this summer. The NFC West squad was already a favorite to win it all in 2026, but shut down any doubt by adding the seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end.

Garrett, 30, is coming off a season where he set the NFL’s all-time single-season sack record (23). He spent the first nine seasons of his career with Cleveland, but seems to have already acclimated to his new surroundings under the bright lights of Hollywood.

The Rams are also in position to add a familiar face to the roster if Aaron Donald decides to come out of retirement and rejoin LA for the upcoming season. Donald lining up alongside Garrett seems too good to be true, but it appears to be a possibility for the Rams this summer.

Donald has been in communication with the Rams, but head coach Sean McVay recently reiterated that the team won’t pressure the three-time Defensive Player of the Year into a comeback. In both words and actions, Donald has expressed an interest in a potential return.

The 35-year-old was spotted working out at the Rams practice facility in Woodland Hills earlier this month, making a reunion seem like a reality.

Super Bowl LXI is set to be played at SoFi Stadium in February and the Rams have history on their side as the team last won the Lombardi Trophy in Los Angeles in 2022.

The Rams have put themselves in the best position to once again win the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium after acquiring Garrett this summer. A Donald return would make the upcoming season that much sweeter.
