Maxx Crosby trade could happen ‘this week’ as potential suitors emerge

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 2, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Maxx Crosby could be out of Las Vegas as early as “this week.”

That’s according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, who suggested Monday the star Raiders defensive end could be dealt in the immediate future after an offseason full of trade buzz.

“I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week,” Breer began. “But there’s going to have to be some needle-threading. I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider.”

The Raiders’ fourth-round pick in 2019, Crosby has played his entire career in silver and black and has earned five straight Pro Bowl nods since 2021.

His most recent season ended in disappointing and dramatic fashion, when he walked out of the team facility after being shut down for the final two games of an abysmal 3-14 campaign due to a knee issue.

Crosby underwent surgery in early January for “clean up time.”

With the Klint Kubiak era now underway in Las Vegas — along with the potential addition of quarterback Fernando Mendoza this spring — Breer noted “there’s also logic to the idea that it’s time for Crosby, who very badly wants to win, and the team, to move on.”

Crosby will be 29 when the new season begins in September, and should it take more than a year for the Raiders to right the ship, the question posed by Breer is: “Would the Raiders be able to get the same price a year or two from now that they might bring home this week?”

Although there’s been no movement on Crosby as of Monday afternoon, teams such as the Cowboys, Bears, Bills, Patriots, Ravens, Rams and Eagles are “keeping tabs on his availability.”

It was reported last week that the Raiders are eyeing a similar trade package the Cowboys received from the Packers last August for Micah Parsons, which included two first-round picks and Pro Bowl tackle Kenny Clark.

“Maxx is an elite player, and I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team,” Raiders general manager John Spytek recently said. “And we need a lot more of them.”

It remains to be seen what the Raiders will do with their “elite” playmaker in the days to come.
