Mary Jo Buttafuoco Reacts to Amy Fisher’s Son Being Arrested for Animal Cruelty: ‘It’s About Time’

News RoomBy News RoomJuly 21, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Mary Jo Connery (formerly Mary Jo Buttafuoco) reacted to Amy Fisher’s son Brett Anthony Bellera’s arrest more than three decades after she and Fisher were involved in the “Long Island Lolita” case.

“I have known about this kid and his issues for years now. It’s about time someone has put it out there,” Connery, 71, told NewsNation in a statement on Tuesday, July 21. “This kid never had a chance.”

Connery continued the statement by making a snide comment about how Fisher, 51, now makes money. “I suggest you reach out to his mother at Streamate … a porn site. Are we surprised??” she said.

Fisher made headlines when she shot Connery, who was married to Fisher’s lover Joey Buttafuoco, in the face in 1992 when she was just 17 years old.

Connery survived the shooting, but was left with permanent facial paralysis from the incident.

Fisher, who became known as the “Long Island Lolita,” was arrested for the incident and served seven years in prison before she was released on parole in 1999. She then married Louis Bellera, whom she shares three children with, and they moved to Florida. However, they have since split and she moved back to Long Island.

Buttafuoco, 70, was also arrested following the shooting and served four months for statutory rape.

Us previously reported that Brett, 25, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Armenti, were both charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after their cat, Reaper, was found burned to death in their Fort Lauderdale, Florida, apartment following a December 2024 incident.

It was determined that the cat died after “involuntary heat exposure,” and it’s believed that the cat sustained the injuries from microwave radiation, being submerged in hot water or exposure to hot water vapor, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)’s forensic necropsy, per WPLG.

Brett was hit with the charges while he was already in police custody on other charges.

WPLG reported that a friend of Brett and Armenti, 36, notified authorities that the cat had died on December 15, 2024. Armenti initially claimed that she found the cat’s body on the bathroom floor and believed he died after ingesting cleaning products. However, animal care employees reported that the cat was found dead on the back patio of the home and was covered in blood while in a laundry basket.

Following an investigation into the matter, Brett was charged earlier in July and Armenti was arrested on Wednesday, July 15.

It’s not currently clear if Brett or Armenti have entered pleas in the recent case.

Brett has a history of legal issues and was first arrested when he was 18. He has been charged with drug and robbery over the years, according to records reviewed by the Daily Mail.

If you know of or suspect animal abuse or neglect, you are urged to contact the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals through their website or call your local animal control officer.
