Major delivery platforms to bring Costco to your door

Costco has revealed it is expanding its delivery options nationwide via the popular platforms DoorDash and Uber Eats.

The warehouse giant announced Thursday that members can now have everything from bulk groceries and household essentials to electronics and Kirkland Signature products delivered to their doors through the apps.

The partnership covers Costco warehouses across the US and marks the first time DoorDash has offered Costco delivery nationwide.

“Costco members have been asking for Costco on DoorDash, and today we’re delivering,” said Mike Goldblatt, vice president of Enterprise Partnerships at DoorDash.

“By pairing Costco’s quality, value and selection with DoorDash’s reach and local delivery network, we’re giving members more flexibility in how they shop.”

Shoppers will be able to choose from more than 4,000 Costco products through DoorDash.

The move expands an existing partnership between the two companies, with DoorDash already delivering Costco goods in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Iceland and Puerto Rico.

Costco members will have to link their membership to their DoorDash account before completing an order.

The announcement comes just a day after Uber Eats revealed it was dramatically expanding its own Costco delivery service from 17 states to 47, covering nearly 600 warehouses nationwide.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Costco nationwide, giving Costco members more ways to shop and bringing the brand’s storied selection and value to more consumers,” said Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer at Uber.

“Costco is one of the largest and most trusted retailers in the country for good reason, and our nationwide partnership demonstrates the scale and opportunity Uber can bring to retailers looking to meet more of consumers’ everyday shopping needs.”

Uber is also dangling discounts to get Costco shoppers onto the platform.

Eligible Costco members can get 50% off an annual Uber One membership for their first year and 20% off in subsequent years, while $100 Uber and Uber Eats gift cards are being sold for $79.99 at participating Costco locations and online for a limited time.

Consumers who purchase a Costco membership through Uber Eats can also receive 30% off their first eligible Costco order.

For nearly a decade, Costco shoppers have also been able to order groceries from the warehouse chain through Instacart.

Costco and Uber Eats first teamed up in the US in 2024, when delivery was available in just 17 states.

The delivery blitz comes as Costco continues an aggressive expansion of its bricks-and-mortar empire.

The retailer plans to add 14 new warehouses across the US and Canada before the end of 2026, with openings planned in Missouri, Texas, New York, Kansas, California, Idaho, Arizona, Virginia and Wisconsin, as well as several locations in Canada.

CEO Ron Vachris has previously said the company expects to open more than 30 warehouses annually over the next five to 10 years, roughly half of them in the US.

Costco currently operates more than 900 warehouses worldwide, including more than 640 in the US and Puerto Rico.

The expansion comes as the warehouse giant’s famously loyal shoppers continue flocking to the chain for everything from bulk groceries and cheap gas to its legendary food court.

Costco has famously refused to budge on the price of its iconic $1.50 hot dog combo, which has remained at the same bargain price for more than four decades.

Earlier this year, the retailer made a rare change to the deal by allowing customers to swap the traditional fountain soda for a bottle of Kirkland Signature water — while keeping the $1.50 price intact.

The company’s shelves have also been caught up in the squeeze hitting American consumers.

Costco this month began rationing its Kirkland Signature synthetic motor oil amid a global shortage, limiting shoppers to two units every seven days after the price of a 10-quart pack surged to $57.99 — nearly double the roughly $30 it had previously fetched.

The nationwide delivery push marks a significant expansion of Costco’s reach beyond its traditional warehouse model, while giving DoorDash and Uber Eats a bigger foothold in the increasingly competitive grocery and retail delivery market.
