Maine Dem Senate nominee Troy Jackson scrubs social media posts praising Graham Platner

News RoomBy News RoomJuly 29, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

At least his Reddit history isn’t out there.

Newly minted Maine Democratic Senate nominee Troy Jackson frantically deleted almost all of his past social media posts heaping praise on accused rapist Graham Platner, The Post has learned.

Jackson, a former lumberjack and onetime Maine Senate president, had been a staunch backer of Platner up until a former girlfriend publicly accused the Marine veteran and dilettante oyster farmer of sexual assault earlier this month.

In all, the 58-year-old Jackson appears to have scrubbed at least 20 posts boosting Platner before the allegations emerged, based on information from the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

“Graham Platner is exactly the sort of Democrat that Susan Collins and the Republican Party don’t know how to handle. It’s why I endorsed him back in February, and it’s why I support him now,” Jackson posted on X in May.

“He’s building a working class movement that spans every corner of this state, from Fort Kent all the way to Kittery.”

At the time, Jackson was vying for the Democratic nomination for governor. After finishing third in the ranked-choice voting primary, Jackon’s ties to the far left and endorsement by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) led Democrats to eye him as a replacement for Platner after he dropped out of the Senate race earlier this month.

In other since-deleted X posts, Jackson congratulated Platner after Maine Gov. Janet Mills suspended her Senate campaign in April, shared an article by the Portland Press Herald on his and Platner’s drive to give laborers more personal time, and posted a clip of Platner gushing over a labor union endorsement the two landed.

The deleted X posts also included Jackson’s initial endorsement of Platner from March, featuring a video of the two playing pool at a bar.

“It’s time to upset the status quo. I’m proud to endorse my friend, @grahamformaine,” Jackson posted on X.

The new Senate candidate has left up his July 6 X post demanding Platner withdraw from the race after the rape allegations by his ex, Jenny Racicot. Platner has denied wrongdoing.

There is no place in our politics for sexual violence. Not in our party, not in any party. Graham Platner must withdraw from this race today.

This is not what we stand for. Not as Democrats, not as Mainers, not as human beings. For too long, women who survive sexual violence…

Additionally, two other Platner-related posts are still up, including one seeking donations and another sharing a quote from a Portland Press Herald piece suggesting that Jackson is “our Graham, our Zohran, our Bernie.”

Graham and I have more small dollar donors than anyone else in our races.

Not CEOs, not private equity, but nurses, loggers, truckers, and everyone else who keeps Maine running.

If you could kick in few bucks to split between us, that’d be a big deal. https://t.co/iAIkSlOqKC

“In Maine’s race for governor, we already have our Graham, our Zohran, our Bernie…[He’s] been here his whole life — fighting for justice up in the North Maine Woods and down at the State House. He’s a logger and union leader from Allagash, and his name is Troy Jackson.” pic.twitter.com/znvz3t440f

When asked about the deleted X posts, the Jackson campaign told The Post that “After a serious allegation of sexual assault emerged, Troy called on Graham Platner to step aside.”

“The campaign removed older posts that no longer reflected Troy’s position.”

Jackson officially clinched the Democratic nomination to take on incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) over the weekend.

Democrats consider Maine to be a must-win race if they hope to take back the Senate in November.

“Troy Jackson is trying to erase his past and is shape-shifting like a political chameleon in order to gain power,” Republican National Committee press secretary Natalie Baldassarre told The Post.

“Troy Jackson is a devout socialist who stood hand-in-hand with Nazi rapist Graham Platner until the bitter end, and no amount of deleted posts is going to change his past.”
