Mackenzie Shirilla’s Prison Infractions Revealed: Dildo Video Calls, Dress Code, Dancing and More

News RoomBy News RoomMay 30, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Mackenzie Shirilla racked up numerous prison violations after being convicted in the “Hell on Wheels” fatal car crash that left her boyfriend and a close friend dead.

Shirilla is the subject of Netflix’s 2026 documentary The Crash, in which she breaks her silence about the July 2022 car crash that killed her boyfriend Dominic Russo and high school friend Davion Flanagan in Strongsville, Ohio. (Shirilla drove her Toyota Camry at over 100 mph into a brick wall and was the only one to survive despite sustaining severe injuries.)

While Shirilla has always denied that she intentionally sped up and steered her car into the building, she was convicted in a 2023 bench trial of 12 felony charges, including murder, and ordered to serve two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life imprisonment. Since then, Shirilla has served time at the Ohio Reformatory for Women prison in Marysville, Ohio.

Prison records obtained by Us Weekly show that Shirilla has faced multiple disciplinary actions behind bars, including for a NSFW video call in 2025 during which Shirilla allegedly showed her breasts to a visitor who flashed “a dildo sticking out of her pants twice.”

Shirilla was also written up for possession of altered clothing and four “nude magazine pictures” in October 2024. Prison officials restricted her commissary access for 30 days as punishment for those offenses.

Another infraction in December 2024 saw Shirilla put on a 30-day recreation restriction after she was caught “dancing” outside the gym instead of exercising.

Keep scrolling for more of Shirilla’s shocking prison infractions below:

Mackenzie Shirilla Was Penalized for Possessing ‘Unknown Medication’

In January 2025, prison guards wrote up Shirilla for having “a packet of unknown medication” and a personal photo of herself “containing drug use.” She was cited for misuse of authorized medication and “possession of any other contraband article knowingly possessed which has been altered or for which permission has not been given for the photo.”

“Shirilla admitted to using the meds and that they weren’t hers. Also she had a personal photo of herself containing drug use,” the guard noted.

For this infraction, Shirilla was restricted to her cell for 30 days.

Mackenzie Shirilla Was Accused of Hiding a Major Contraband Haul

In September 2024, prison officers accused Shirilla of hiding dozens of items that were found to be contraband. The contraband ranged from food — four bags of nuts, three boxes of jello and marshmallow fluff — to fashion accessories — “dangle earrings made from charms stolen from the kindware room” and “gold and silver wire wrapped around pens” — to unusual items such as “pink and purple rubber balloons not inflated,” two “bottles of mixed pills” and a “large stack of very tiny Monopoly money.”

Shirilla denied stealing but pleaded guilty to “possession of any other contraband, including any article knowingly possessed which has been altered or for which permission has not been given.”

Mackenzie Shirilla Allegedly Had Video Calls With an Unapproved Visitor

Shirilla ran afoul of the Ohio Reformatory for Women rules again in April 2025 for having more than “100 video visits” with someone “who should not be visiting Shirilla.” The unapproved visitor was an “ex inmate that was released.”

For violating visiting rules, Shirilla endured electronics restrictions for one month.

One of Mackenzie Shirilla’s Video Calls Allegedly Included Someone Using a Dildo

In September 2025, Ohio Reformatory for Women guards reportedly discovered sexual content in some of Shirilla’s video calls. The report documented that “multiple inappropriate things took place” during one video call, including “Shirilla show[ing] her breast to the visitor.”

“The visitor shows a dildo then lastly at 22:53 the Visitor shows her breast. Then on the visit at 7:42 at the 24:01 marker the visitor shows her breast with a dildo sticking out of her pants twice,” the report alleges. “Then at 25:17 the visitor sets the phone up and walks into the frame completely undressed. There was a total of 7 video visits taken place between IP Shirilla and this visitor.”

Shirilla pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of telephone, mail, or electronic device and violation of visitation rules. She was restricted from video visits for 60 days.

Mackenzie Shirilla Clashed With Prison Guards Over Her Wardrobe

Shirilla got into trouble in April 2025 when she argued with prison officials over whether she was “properly dressed.” She allegedly told a male guard that her hoodie couldn’t be inspected because her shirt wasn’t buttoned underneath.

When the guard asked her to step into the restroom to prove whether or not she was “dressed properly,” Shirilla allegedly quipped, “If he got a boner from the way I’m dressed that’s his fault.”

A female prison staffer joined them for the inspection yet Shirilla continued to clash with the male guard.

“When we got into the restroom, Shirilla unzipped her hoody and her state shirt was completely unbuttoned with just a sports bra on. She was instructed to button her shirt and give me her altered hoody,” the male guard wrote. “The whole time we were in the restroom she was very disrespectful and talked with a loud tone asking if this was all we were worried about was her altered jacket. [She] has had several conduct reports for contraband clothing.”

Shirilla’s altered clothing was confiscated and she was given “new state uniforms.”

This time, Shirilla was punished for disobedience of a direct order and disrespect towards another person but the infraction board reversed the guard’s citation.

Prison Staff Felt Mackenzie Shirilla Could ‘Potentially Expose Herself’ to Them

During an April 2025 meeting with a prison official about her video visits, Shirilla was cited for wearing a contraband hoodie.

“This had been at least the 3rd time I have addressed Shirilla wearing clothing that has been altered to my unit,” the official documented in their report, later adding, “I wanted her hoodie to confiscate [it] as contraband. She proceeded to tell me no, because she couldn’t take it off due to her state shirt (also contraband) being unbuttoned from top to bottom and that her bra would be exposed.”

A female prison staffer was brought in to confirm that Shirilla was indeed wearing a shirt “completely unbuttoned with her bra exposed.”

Along with contraband offenses, Shirilla was charged with sexual harassment for “intentionally coming to another unit inappropriately dressed [and] potentially exposing herself to staff.” The infraction board ultimately ruled that there was “insufficient evidence of intent” to penalize her.

Mackenzie Shirilla Was Penalized for an Alleged Butt Grab

A guard reported in August 2025 that they saw another inmate “removing her hand from IP Shirilla’s buttocks region” as part of “consensual sexual contact.”

She faced seven days of restrictions after being found guilty.
