Kelly Stafford Jokingly Has to ‘Barricade’ Laundry Room Door for ‘Seconds of Peace’ Away From 4 Kids

News RoomBy News RoomOctober 22, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

For moms like Kelly Stafford, they find little ways to take a break from parenting duties.

“I JUST NEED 5 MINUTES,” Stafford, 37, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, August 21, sharing footage of herself holding a door closed with her foot. “Meanwhile, Dad is somewhere in this house, completely unbothered, while I’m barricaded in the laundry room fighting for my 300 seconds of peace.”

Kelly and her husband, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, are parents of four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, 9, Hunter, 8 and Tyler, 6.

“My moms out there … where’s the last place you hid (or locked yourself in) just to get a little peace?!” she added in her social media upload. “PS- the no treats works every time in the Stafford house.”

In her accompanying footage, Kelly’s four girls teamed up to pry open the door to slip a handwritten note underneath.

“Go away,” Kelly replied to their letter, also threatening, “Then, no treats.”

Kelly and Matthew, 38, have been married since 2015 after meeting in college at the University of Georgia. After graduation, Matthew was drafted into the NFL with Kelly by his side. Even amid their glamorous lifestyle in the NFL and in Los Angeles — Matthew was traded from the Detroit Lions to the Rams in 2021 — the couple want their kids to be grounded.

“For me — and I know for my husband, too — we want somewhat of a simpler upbringing for our girls,” Kelly exclusively told Us earlier this month. “We already kind of don’t know what we’re doing because neither of us grew up this way.”

She continued, “To be surrounded by a community with the same values and things like that is important to us. It will also help [Matthew and myself] stay grounded. That’s part of it, too. We have to stay grounded. How do you do that? You surround yourself with people who have known you forever and can call you out on your bulls***.”

For Kelly, it’s important that her daughters “use [their] manners.”

“You open the door for people. To me, things that matter. You have respect for people,” she stated. “It’s everywhere, right? It’s not just California, but I do think it’s ramped up here.”

Kelly and Matthew have yet to decide whether they will remain in the City of Angels upon the quarterback’s eventual retirement.

“That is a question I ask myself every day. Family’s first for us,” Kelly told Us. “I miss my family like crazy. I could get choked up talking about how much I miss them. I miss my nephews and nieces growing up. Having people at sporting events, that is how I grew up. We have a huge extended family, as well. That feels like home to me.”
