Kathleen Robertson Reveals Who She Thought She Would Be Romantically Paired Off With on ‘Tracker’ (Exclusive)

Kathleen Robertson‘s character on Tracker plays a pivotal role — but the actress recalled jokingly assuming she would be set up with a main character on the show.

“[Fiona Rene] and I, we keep joking, ‘Are they writing us to become a couple?” Robertson, 53, quipped exclusively to Us about the role she thought her character would play. “I would love that because we always laugh about that.”

Robertson was hoping to return regardless as Maxine.

“I’m starting my own show in January so I will be a little unavailable for that period,” the actress, who is starring in and is a showrunner for CBC’s Blessed Sacrament. “If I can figure out a way to juggle and do both and go back and forth, I would love to because it’s a really fun show to be on.”

After being introduced in season 3, Robertson has enjoyed returning to Tracker, telling Us, “My character tends to be a little more of the personal side of the show. It’s fun for Fiona to have a friend and a person to bounce off of — and we have a lot of fun together.”

Based on Jeffery Deaver‘s novel The Never Game, Tracker shows Colter (Justin Hartley) traveling around the country helping to find missing people and solving cold cases.

“I have had scenes with Justin and he’s great,” Robertson added. “It’s a really fun group and obviously a hugely successful show.”

Robertson, for her part, is booked and busy with appearances not only on Tracker but Reacher as well. She’s also working on her medical drama Blessed Sacrament, which follows three sisters as they work to save lives at the hospital that is their family’s legacy.

“I’ve spent the last little chunk of my life almost solely focusing on writing and producing and showrunning. So when I felt like, ‘Oh, I really miss acting on other people’s shows because it’s such a different experience for me creatively,’” she noted. “I was really happy to go and be one these two successful shows. It’s been really, really fun to be on shows that people actually watch and love.”

Robertson is looking forward to branching out with Blessed Sacrament.

“It’s a very punk rock, character driven show. It’s less about medical and more about this family. It’s about three sisters and they all work at the hospital and their mother runs the hospital. The show is a very complex family drama,” she teased. “It’s an ensemble. My sisters in real life work together at the same hospital. So the idea kind of came from that and they work in the same hospital where we were all born. So I was like, ‘Oh, that’s a television show.’”

She continued: “My hope and my goal with it is to really do something that feels provocative and unexpected. It’s definitely subversion. It’s a very subverted medical show. I don’t want it to look like a medical show. The whole thing is going to be turned on its ear. It is more family focused and there’s a mystery at the center.”
