CHICAGO — Sometimes when a player speaks, you should read into it.
Sometimes when a player expresses confusion and exasperation, you shouldn’t dismiss it as words uttered mistakenly or with an ulterior motive.
Too often we’re fed disingenuity from those in front of microphones, or PR cliches, or brand development, or however you might characterize statements such as, “I live at the gym and all I care about is winning.”
But sometimes, like with Karl-Anthony Towns in training camp when asked about his role in Mike Brown’s offense, you get a glimpse into an uncomfortable truth.
