Jenelle Evans Breaks Silence After Mom Barbara Files for Emergency Custody of Son Jace (Exclusive)

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 15, 20267 ViewsNo Comments

Jenelle Evans is responding to her mother Barbara Evans’ emergency filing for custody of her 16-year-old son, Jace.

“My mom was denied her recent request for emergency custody,” Jenelle, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly on Sunday, March 15. “I still have sole and physical custody of Jace.”

According to court documents obtained by The Ashley, Barbara filed two motions on Wednesday, March 11 — one for emergency child custody and one to modify child custody.

Us has learned that the next court date is a temporary court hearing — not a hearing for emergency custody. Us has also learned that Barbara appeared for the emergency custody hearing without Jenelle’s lawyer present and without notifying Jenelle or her legal team, therefore the motion was ultimately denied.

Us has reached out to Barbara’s legal team for comment.

The motions come just one day after TMZ first reported that Jace had been placed in a mental health facility after allegedly pulling a gun on Barbara late last month. (Jace has been living with Barbara in North Carolina, while Jenelle resides in Las Vegas with her two younger children.)

According to the outlet’s Tuesday, March 10, report, the incident occurred while Jace was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“At this time, we respectfully ask for privacy for the family and Jenelle Evans,” a rep for the MTV star told Page Six at the time. “This is a personal matter, and space and understanding are appreciated as they focus on their well-being and time together. Thank you for respecting their privacy during this time.”

Jenelle’s sister, Ashleigh, denied the alleged incident in a social media post later that same day.

“My nephew did not pull a firearm out on his grandmother or himself,” she wrote via X. “That is a lie. None of that [is] true… who[ever] keeps fabricating these lies is a sick person. The police never found a gun in my mother’s house. That is a straight up lie. [It’s] most likely my sister selling the story because she’s angry. She’s losing control.”

Jenelle responded to the alleged incident on Tuesday as well, calling Barbara and her sister “the enemy.”

“Whoever thought the enemy is my own mother, sad AF,” she wrote at the time. “And to think the empathy I had for her all these months because of her health.”

She continued of her sister, “Another evil one that doesn’t have custody of her son. Take what she says with a grain of salt. Kthx, bye.”
